Oh yeah. Read the title.

After browsing this quickly I'd say leave it and let the vet handle it. The pain won't kill him but the wrong treatment might. Dogs have a good pain threshold.

Thank you hf I don't know how I missed that site.

A few more houres till the vet checks him out. He for sure needs an antibiotic. He started to show symptoms a day before Thanksgiving.

Re: MY DOG HAS AN EAR INFECTION
Hydrogen peroxide will clear out the infection without any trouble. If the infection is not really bad no need to go see a doctor. Just poor H2O2 in his ears and let it bubble for a couple of minutes repeat 3 times a day he will be fine day after tomorrow

Excellent advise, and also give pooch a whole aspirin for a large dog, half for a smaller dog and a quarter of one for a tiny dog.

However, the problem may be a foxtail awn (grass sticker) imbedded deep in the ear so it is a good thing to take him to the vet in this case!

Never.. Never use Hydrogen Peroxide. It inflames the damaged tissue and damages the good tissue.
Use Tinactin Antifungal [for athlete's foot] powder or spray [though spray easily] a couple of times a day.

That didn't work on my dog.

Take him to the vet.

Another thing that is good for the ear....Apple cider vinegar. It will make sure it's alkaline so it can start to heal itsself.

For swimmers ear...equal parts of alcohol and apple cider vinegar.

Yeah that's right, go pour some shit in your Dogs ear and kill the poor sucker.
Because some Moran on the internet tells you to.
Don't listen to the vet he hasn't got a damn clue after all.

Alcohol in his ear if he will let you.

Just until you can get to the vet, though. May need antibiotics.

I wasn't saying not to take the animal to the vet. But in the mean time, try this.

I use this on myself all of the time, and the last couple of days, I put vinegar in my 11 mo old's ear. It usually takes care of it if you do it at the first sign of an ear ache.

Re: MY DOG HAS AN EAR INFECTION
I have struggled with ear infections in my dog for ages.
They are caused by food and environmental allergies.
If that's your problem, my advice is to do the allergy screening right away, even though it may be expensive.

I wish I had done that sooner for my dog, because until I removed the allergic foods from her diet, she continued to get infections, and that ended up costing me more money in the long run.

Use what the vet gives you on the dog's ears, and nothing else. I will say, though that my vet did tell me that 50-50 vinegar and water solution is an OK substitute for the T8 solution I was using to clean the ears.
