Yes, you do make some very good points..however; for some it is the only way they can contribute, perhaps due to health, lack of transport... or whatever, so I do not think you can make a blanket statement like that

For me, I not only put my money where my mouth is... but also use my mouth as well, as one of the contributors to the cd. Writing and voicing the ad that is currently playing around the country.

Good for you that you put your money where your mouth is as well, if we all did that.. (to use a well used phrase) what a wonderful world this would be!

The more I look into this the more I have my doubts.

Do any of you out there really think that "Children's Hospitals" DON'T have:

Books, tapes, CDs, coloring books, music, crayons, toys and myriad other things to keep the children occupied?????

They already have these things.

This thread makes you think that children in the hospitals will be "stuck" there with no entertainment. Nothing could be further from the truth.

If you want to give these ripoff 'artists' your $3.00, go ahead. BTW, this CD by Jeff Gelder is being hawked all over the internet. Tons of sites have him asking for donations.

BTW, I would like OP to give the NAMES and ADDRESSES of the various 'children's hospitals' who have already received CDs in the past from Jeff Gelder.

I intend to call each hospital and find out if they:

1) received the CDs
2) what quality are they?
3) did they need them in the first place

Of course they have these things.. BUT we are talking about Christmas cheer!.. You know? that much hyped, commercialized thing that you cannot miss from late october to the day after the event (here in the states anyway).

Have you ever spent time in hospital, as a patient, in your life?

Even at the best of times, it is not a comfortable environment for adults.

Increase that discomfort 10 fold for sick kiddies, who are away from their (mostly) safe environment. A place they know, with people they love, in relative comfort. To being in a loud, noisy, busy environment. Mostly in degrees of pain, or discomfort. Often hooked up to who knows what machine...Amongst strangers, however nice they may be. Scared, uncertain, vulnerable!

THAT is why this is being done for kiddies. To try and make their christmas as happy and normal as possible. To try and bring them even a momentary distraction from the pain that they may be feeling, be that physical,emotional, or spiritual...

If this bothers you so much, then simply ignore the thread. OR do your research! This is a totally legitimate charity.

What are they?

1)Feel free ac to visit the wehsite and see the names of some of the hospitals involved... see the pics.. and by all means ring some of the hospitals mentioned.. Once you are satisfied that this is all legit, are you then going to donate? Or are you simply blowing hot air? Money where your mouth is.

2) These are professionally recorded and produced cds.. by professional artists who do this for a living.
This is not something you might create while living in your mother's basement (no insult intended to those who do)

Before giving your money to anyone, check them out first.

I've found the easiest way to do this is by googling the website name, followed by the word 'scam'.

Then, if you're really the suspicious type, you can research the name and find out who owns it.

Last year 1500 copies of the CD were delivered to Children's Hospitals in 8 cities in the U.S. that were thrilled to have the recordings to distribute to their patients, including San Diego, Orange County, Milwaukee, New York, Miami, New Orleans, Houston and Albuquerque for the children spending their holidays in the hospital, and their siblings.
