You are obviously the ALL TIME WORST SHILL any charity ever had, anywhere.

No, I'm not going to "fuck off", as you say. And I am not going to call every hospital in the city names noted. Not good enough. The onus isn't on ME. It's on YOU because YOU are asking for peoples' hard earned MONEY.

I asked for simple information. The names and addresses of 10 hospitals who ever received Jeff Gelder Holiday Magic CDs.

Shouldn't be all that hard to provide, if it's on the up and up.

Which obviously, it is not.

You must not know MOI, she has not been on GLP much lately, but she is genuinely a nice LADY and she does not run scams...

I think it'd be better to donate nothing, and let the kids die. Much saner all round. The spammer doesn't get to rip you 'tards off, and the whiney little kids don't get to experience the fairly shitty life available to them.

a real charity blabs all about their recipients. photos, PR, normally a hospital admin recieving the cd's .

Holiday Magic 2008 Call For Entries

The finest and most generous voice actors and singers are cordially invited to participate in this annual project organized by Jeff Gelder, San Diego voice talent and President of GelderHead Productions.

GelderHead Productions is now accepting submissions for the sixth edition CD of
Holiday Magic 2008, A Gift for Children of all Ages.

Just think of how some festive recordings will brighten the holidays of children and their siblings at Children's Hospitals... you could be part of this wonderful project


What's Required?

๏ Please submit a song, story, riddle or rhyme, anything that welcomes Holiday time.
๏ Make it less than four minutes, and please send it on CD.
๏ Character voices are encouraged.
๏ All entries must be complete and fully recorded for use.

The top 15-20 will be selected based on creativity, generosity and theme and will receive artist exposure, be included on the CD with acknowledgements, be mailed a copy of the CD and receive the:

~ GelderHead Award of Excellence for Creativity and Generosity ~

Last year 1500 copies of the CD were delivered to Children's Hospitals in 8 cities in the U.S.

Do the maths. Last year each CD cost $2 therefore
that's three thousand CDs.

If for example 100 people donate $30 each to the
cause thats already $3000 in the kitty
where each CD costs $3 this year thats 1000 CDs
that can be distributed.

Supposing this year they are aiming to double the
number of CDs distributed and the target is
therefore three thousand CD's x $3 = $9000.

For any charity but note this is a nation wide one
it would be relatively easy to collect 9 or 10,000
dollars in donations to make the 3,000 CDs.

Something doent add up about this.

Are all donations recorded and receipted?

My guess is probably not for the small change
but probably for larger donations i.e. $20 and above.

I am almost sorry I posted this now. I guess, I was hoping people could be a little more human at this time of the year.. but I guess they are, and I should not have expected differently.

I did it because I genuinely believe in helping the kids, and I thought this was a good cause.

I apologize to all of you who think that I am running a scam, or trying to aid perpetration of one. It is not now, nor ever has been my intent.

Mods if you want to unpin this and let it die, then by all means please do so.

I will not post to this thread again, unless a question is directly aimed in my direction, and not in response to a troll, who probably would not donate to any charity anyway.

People are not 'trolls' if they ask you a simple question as to the names and addresses of the hospitals to verify if they actually did receive those CDs. The fact that you call them trolls and your partner in crime tells us to "fuck off" is all that I ever need to know about you.

yes, i did some google research and all i can find is emotional PR and very, very little detail from a charity that has supposedly been running for 5 or 6 years.

This post soliciting money posted is outrageous. This is ridiculous.

It's one thing if the owner of GLP asked for money to help fund this site. That I wouldn't have a problem with and would probably help out with.

But for someone else to come on this site and beg for some charity they work for? Pisses me off. This time of year, we all get deluged with requests to make donations at work, from friends, from the Salvation Army bell ringers, other sites, etc. Why can't GLP be a solicitations-free site? If you're going to allow this charity to be advertised on your site, what's next?!

That is completely unfair.

I try and give as much as I can afford to charities I believe in. And I also give money to homeless people.

But I can only do so much. Do you have any idea how many times I've been asked for money for charities just in the last week alone? Then to come on GLP, which is normally refreshingly free of solicitations, and find this request and your absurd comment makes me very irate.

I've become extremely practical, some would say cynical.

I pass the Salvation Army ringers with a holiday greeting and a compliment to them for their service. What I leave unspoken is my observation that while these good folks are standing in the cold ringing the bell, most of the temporarily local guys living at the Sal are sitting in a warm bar sucking down the suds with the money they begged off the shoppers earlier today.

Or down by the railroad track freezing their buns off and smoking crack.

When I see them standing out there and doing their part to benefit them and their fellows then I'll consider donating again.

That will never happen because the vast majority of them would wait til the bucket was full and skip town.

I spent my career life working in the people-helping professions and know what I'm talking about.

So, good-hearted people everywhere, please be educated about what you are donating your time to. You may be unwittingly helping someone other than the needy prosper.
