Choctaw still believe that a variety of strange supernatural beings either inhabit the cave-mound,
Today the Choctaw still believe that a variety of strange supernatural beings either inhabit the cave-mound, or dwell in the wooded hills that surround it. One of these is the Shampe, a hair-covered, manlike giant who has a terrible odor, and who stays underground during the day. The Shampe is a sort of Sasquatch, but the underworld connection is there. Also present are the Kawana-kasha, (Kowi Anukasha), also called Bohpoli (stone-thrower), a type of supernatural and mercurial dwarf; these live within not just the woods of Mississippi, but within the cave-mound itself. Like the Norse dwarves, they are the hoarders of vast knowledge. The mound is also the home of "giant serpents," and perhaps a host of other beings. Among the latter is the Nalusa Falaya, or "Long Black Being," who is humanoid yet slides on his stomach "like a snake." His pointed ears only accentuate his reptilian appearance. Another variant is the Nalusa Chito, "Big Black Being," who emerges from underground dens to capture women and children, presumably for supper. But this abduction scenario is by now a familiar one, and is very similar to the abduction and changeling accounts of Celtic and Scandinavian traditions, which were often for purposes of maintaining genetic diversity. The goblin "Hoīkoklonoteī she" is a shapeshifting creature believed to haunt the region, and is very similar to the Pooka or Buca of the British Isles. So are the "Nalusa" twins, for that matter.

Cool, thanks Decksurf. The Nalusa Falaya kind of reminds me of the Naga.

Re: Choctaw still believe that a variety of strange supernatural beings either inhabit the cave-mound,
This is true. One has to spend a lot of time day and night in the woods to know these things.
I recall a story about the little blue people who tend their gardens at night.
I believe itīs a Cherokee story about a perfect garden being found in the deep woods. There was never anyone around in the daytime so one night the people waited and hid. They saw these little blue people come out of the ground. They tended the garden and returned back under the ground.

I know a lady who is an ordained minister. She has a place up in the mountains in North Carolina. She takes people to see the faries that live there. These little people are only a few inches tall and come out when you go there. They are very sociable and curious little guys.

Personally I have seen little "people" type creatures in the woods who instantly change like a camillian when you spot them. They blend in very well and suddenly with nature. I just call them nature spirits. I have shown them to others and told them what to look for. They have been left totally shocked at what they saw.

Re: Choctaw still believe that a variety of strange supernatural beings either inhabit the cave-mound,
Hello Decksurf
I am Choctaw and the reason why most people donīt see these is because they donīt believe. Indians knew everything is alive just as science is finally saying through scientific research. The Choctaw are direct descendents of the Hopewell and they are from the Adena Mound Builder culture who built the mounds so these are honored. Some link the Adena to Atantis and to the development of strong powers of the mind. Many Choctaw are known for being seers of the other world so this does not surprise me....Thank you for posting this Decksurf....walk in peace with mother earth

Cool, Old Indian Man. We have something similar to that here, well, south of town by where the old Miami burial mounds are. You can also see ghost orbs sometimes around the mounds.

Re: Choctaw still believe that a variety of strange supernatural beings either inhabit the cave-mound,
Interesting that you mention the Miami. My last dance was with Chief Paul Strack at one of the Mihsikkinaahkwa Pow Wows in Northeastern Indiana.
Chief Little Turtles old home is there.
There is a place called Hartman Road where a battle occured. The Miami and the Potawotomi waited for the army to come through there and they ambushed them. There were many deaths as a result.
If you go there at night and take an old 35mm camera, you get actual photgraphs of the spirits there. If you are respectful and ask for permission, they come from all around. Otherwise they run you out. I have taken people there to show them and made believers out of all of them.
The photos we have taken are awesome and not only show people but their animals as well.
Some of the photos of the road itself show full skeletons burried side by side under the road. They look like an x ray.

Re: Choctaw still believe that a variety of strange supernatural beings either inhabit the cave-mound,
The actual site ( Hartman Road ) is just north of the Ford dealership off highway 30 on the Northeast corner of Columbia City. The area Iīm refering to is not very far down the road and is wooded on both sides. Itīs probably an area on the road the length of a football field. You will feel it when you drive in believe me.
Check out a map of Col. City and go there with your cameras. Make sure you take some burnt offerings like sage or sweetgrass. Go out to Hartman Road around 10pm and park off to the side. There is little traffic and no one stops there. Wait in your car and burn the offerings and announce your intentions. They really love flute music and you may get a reply "not an echo" if you play a flute.
Watch the tiny orbs, listen to the footsteps and feel the presence of these spirits as they circle and approach.
Warning; There will be one spirit come out first and he will try to scare you off. He will come into your vehicle. I have a photo of him.
if you get past this, youīll be fine.
You can get out and investigate after that.
I usually stayed with people till about 1:00 or 2:00 in the morning with narry a dull moment.

I was told, donīt ever get out of your car and do not walk down the road alone. I had no problem with doing this and did "BUT" there will be visable shadow people there crossing the road back and forth and watching you. I actually took three people into the dark woods to show them how to face their fears of the spirits. USE CAUTION though. No one has been hurt there but sticks and stones have been known to fly around and hit peoples cars but with no damage.
Chief Little Turtle is there in spirit and we have photographed him. He is angry and he walks with a cane.
I promise you that you will not be dissapointed. I have gone there many times at night and watched these spirits up in the trees and everywhere. Not just the usual boring orb thing.
People that go ther with me never believed before. They do now.bump

the so called "scientists" bound up in their mechanistic, rational thinking could never comprehend these things.. it great to hear that the spirits cannot be silenced and the earth still speaks to those who have the heart and ears to listen.. go in peace.

I will post a photo at the site you mentioned.

This "green" entity in the photo was wittnessed by three others while I played the flute for it. The photo was taken at the moment I finished. This photo has been examined by expert photographers and theyīre still scratching their heads. The photo has never been near photoshop nor has it been altered in any way. The entity shows in the negative as well.
Watch for it, I will post it asap.

Myakka Florida, a skunk ape. There are many of these Sasquatch looking creatures down in the orange groves and back woods.

My sister saw one and said the smell is just horrible.
