Plague is alive and well in Kern County

"Plague is alive and well in Kern County, where, in fact, it is endemic, according to Director of Public Health Matt Constantine. That fact was brought home this week when a domesticated cat from Hart Flat tested positive for Y. pestis, the bacteria that causes plague. "Over all, we're concerned about the transmission of plague from a cat in this case to a human," said Constantine. Right now, however, there is no evidence of human infection, said Constantine. The cat belonged to a Hart Flat family. It apparently started showing signs of not being well and was taken to a veterinarian. The vet, in turn, contacted the Kern County Department of Public Health, which requested the state test the animal for plague. The test result was positive. Cats are believed to be the domestic species most susceptible to plague. It is not uncommon to find infected animals in elevations of 2,500 feet or higher, said Constantine. Anyone who fears they are being exposed to plague is urged to contact their health care provider."

Re: Plague is alive and well in Kern County
"Yersinia pestis (formerly Pasteurella pestis) is a Gram-negative rod-shaped bacterium belonging to the family Enterobacteriaceae. It is a facultative anaerobe that can infect humans and other animals.

Human Y. pestis infection takes three main forms: pneumonic, septicemic, and the notorious bubonic plagues.[1] All three forms are widely believed to have been responsible for a number of high-mortality epidemics throughout human history, including the Black Death that accounted for the death of at least one-third of the European population between 1347 and 1353."

blackcat That's my part of California, when I'm there. It has always been lurking in the wild, up in the lower Sierras. Sorry to hear that it is spreading.
Zec 12:3 And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.
Psa 9:17 The wicked shall be turned into hell, [and] all the nations that forget God.
Jer 6:2 I have likened the daughter of Zion to a comely and delicate [woman].
STOCK UP NOW. You should have at least 6 months worth of basics for every member of your household. Stay away from crowds when trouble starts, do not forget water storage, tobacco is worth more than gold or silver, and be kind to hungry children.
