Relations between Britain and Israel have plunged to a new low after an arrest warrant was issued in this country against its former foreign minister.

Israel has warned that relations between the two countries are being harmed.

It follows the revoking of a warrant issued in London at the weekend alleging war crimes against the former Israeli foreign minister Tzipi Livni who had overseen Israel's controversial Gaza campaign last winter.

Several Israeli officials and retired military commanders have previously called off trips to Britain because the law here allows non-citizens to be charged with alleged war crimes committed outside Britain's border.
