It does install a lot of stuff I admit, but otherwise I can see no problems with it as yet.

Try buying Norton or McAfee, you cheap fucks. You got a 500-1000 dollar investment that you can't spend 40 bucks a year on?

Here's something I do since a few years.

On your next PC upgrade, DO NOT UPGRADE THE PC.
Instead, gather a few more money, and build a new rig.
You can use HD's from the old rig tho, if you have in excess... you'll only need one HD for this.

Now, Connect your old rig to the web too, and all your downloads and Surfing will be made on that old rig.

When you get a new software, install it first on the old one, try it, and uninstall it.
If everything goes right, just send it to your new rig and use it at will.
If something goes bad, no problem, just format the all HD and reinstall your OS again. Nothing will be lost, since it's just your test and random websurf rig.

You can also use that old rig as a Firewall, making the new one connect to the web through it.

BTW, free programs are nice, some as good as the paid ones, but to be sure, look around if you have the source code available. If you have that, you can have much more trust on it than if it's not available.

Hate to tell you but I was unable to re-create your problems OP.

I found an uninstaller for most of the NCH stuff and removed it. There were a few shortcuts left behind that were not deleted, but that's quite a common thing anyway.

Had to repair a few computers, including my own, after crashes with this software. Not saying it is bad, just that on some systems, it causes a lot of trouble. Just a personal heads up. Back up your stuff!
