Art Deco User ID: 473495 United States 12/31/2009 12:01 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Scrump, like you I don't have any children. But I have to agree with you. There is a responsibility we all have, whether we're parents or not. No matter what happens, we have a responsibility to our children, and their children. In ten years we'll look back on this moment, laugh nervously, and quickly change the subject. |
The Answer is Simple User ID: 848768 United States 12/31/2009 12:03 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Children should all be homeschooled. It requires monetary sacrifice but who cares about that? Heh. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 765854Seriously, I think too many people are afraid to homeschool their kids or they buy into that lie that homeschooled kids aren't well socialized. Homeschooling isn't that hard to do and there are MANY groups to join for socialization. If you're worried that you can't educate your kids because you don't have a very good education yourself.... I promise you can't do worse than the public school system. I PROMISE. This one action can solve many problems. Start homeschooling your children immediately. The public school system has, for the most part, been destroyed by the Federal government and the teacher's union. It's a miserable failure. Many women today, after rethinking the feminist lies that have been sold to them on a national scale, would rather stay at home with their kids anyways. What's the point in working yourself to death and being robbed of quality time with your children? Why would you want to support a failing system that is not serving you or your family? If half of the work force stayed at home doing a superior job of educating their children, there would be no unemployment. The government wouldn't really lose any tax revenue as they would no longer bear the burden of public education. Look at the increasing numbers of people opting out of the public school system right now. The figures are staggering. It's not suprising when you consider the high school drop out rates which are upwards to 50 percent in some cities. Many people will say, "But we can't afford to homeschool, we just don't have the time and we need both incomes to pay our bills." This is, of course, happening by design. The real question is, "Can you realy afford not to?" Now is a good time to rethink and prioritize what is truly important for you and your children. It's a good time for pruning and refinement. We truly can take steps in the right direction if we let go of the fear and anxiety that has been instilled in our minds. Just try your best to do what you know is right, no matter how hard you think those decisions might be. If it means trimming a little fat, then so be it. Your children will thank you for it later. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 682255 United States 12/31/2009 12:05 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Baby boomers are nearing retirement (within the next decade or so) and they'll have their collective hands out, wanting the Federal government to give them as much as they can get. As such, their votes will tend to swing toward the liberals, who are all too happy to meet their needs (and wants) by Socialist redistribution legislation (Constitution be damned). I'm firmly convinced the Democrats don't really want a robust business sector that operates efficiently and that brings us near full employment. Why? Because then no one will need them. They lose power. They lose influence. They want as many Americans dependent on them as possible. Cradle to grave care, all at the lowest common denominator. Karl Marx would be proud! Entitlement programs are so massive, and so engrained into the fabric of society that dismantling them, or merely cutting the growth, is not in the cards. We're headed full speed down on a one-way street called Socialism Avenue and the brakes don't work! I don't like it, but we can't stop it now. I think think the politicians will sink this economy and nation before reducing spending and cutting entitlements. They don't have the political temerity. When the nation is ultimately left teetering on the brink of self annihilation, they'll point the finger at the other side of the aisle and affix blame rather than fix the problems. The productive class is too busy working, paying exorbitant taxes and scraping out a living to take to the streets. Conversely, the recipient class can't wait to march on Washington D.C. for more freebies while they yell, "burn baby, burn." Conservatives are generally conservative by nature, leading lives of quiet desperation, whereas liberals are generally offensive in nature, leading lives of flamboyant protest. As a result, the squeaky wheels get the oil. Tea parties are a nice gesture, but will never be able to encourage a wide scale tax protest, which is arguably the best way for conservatives to be heard. Sorry, but I fear that's the unhappy and unavoidable ending to the late, great American story. Sorry for rambling and ranting... |

However, the reality is, other than casting a vote every now and again, there isn't much more we can do. Of course, we propagate the virtues of conservatism whenever the opportunity presents itself, but the pendulum has swung to the left, baby, and it ain't going back. But at the same time I can see that it is just not practical for many people because of a wide variety of circumstances. Never the less they are your children and there is not really any excuse for not teaching them for an hour or so most days. Partly biblical, there are many good childrens illustrated biblical books for all ages available and you can pick em up real cheap in second hand book shops. And perhaps some time on any particular subject that they are falling behind on. And also do what you can with other parents on a local basis. PS: Visit the Chick site, there are plenty of nice illustrated tracts that are suitable for children. BEST FRIEND... Anonymous Coward User ID: 642285 United States 12/31/2009 12:39 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Just one question? WHAT DAY IS SHOW AND TELL? Do the kids get encouraged to dig into mommie and daddies nightstand or in that locked box under the bed? If there's anything even slightly kinky you know the kids will drag it in and show it to the entire class. So daddy, if you've got your back issues of "JUGS" and it's sister mag, HOOTERS, going back to the 70's and Mommy, if you've been looking at Playgirl since 1975 to remember what a normal penis looks like rather than that piece of shrimp meat your old man has - you can bet your ass it's going to shared with the class. For heaven sake make sure your vibrator is clean just in case the little beasts find it and carry it in. Try to find the pretty pink one your great aunt gave you and put the "Monster Meat in Latex" with the 220v power supply away for a while. They wouldn't have the dryer plug to run it anyway, so the kids would never know what it could really do! (is it true that vibrator isn't sold legally in California any longer because they're afraid it might start one of the fault lines opening up again?) All in all, it should make for an interesting day at school that day! i want to be there to see just what the kids drag in! You'd be surprised to know they already know where you keep the goodies. They may not know what the more exotic equipment is for, yet. But they're quick studies just like you were once. Remember the first time something sent waves of pleasure all over your body and you didn't even know what the feeling was? The glimpses into the private lives of their parents should be interesting to say the very least. Maybe even funny! Who knows. Mostly likely they'll just be boring as hell, but one can hope that maybe in suburbia there is some small spark of passion lurking around some marital beds - maybe??? |
