Real Life Mini-Doom Survival Story
Ok. DOUBLEPLUSDOOM. I was on GLP last night reading about all the earthquakes in CA, the possible connections to the full/blue moon, ad other such doomsday topics. Then I left home with my son to go pick my fiancé up from work, like I always do.
As I'm driving east on my normal route, a white car darts accross the intersection and I slowed down and let him pass. As I took my foot off the break and was setting it back on the gas, a red car appeared out of nowhere, inches in front of me. I didn't even have time to slam the break before I hit them head on. My SUV rolled over and all the airbags deployed. Aside from minor scrapes and bruises, my son and I are fine, although a bit shaken up.
The SUV was on it's side, and my son was hanging in the air from his seatbelt. I think I bumped my head because my glasses had flown off, but I found them and got my seatbelt, then crawled into the back and got my son down safely. People were already on the phone with 911, I could hear their voices and sort of saw people through the windsheild. I called my fiancé, and told him where the accident happened (2 minutes away from his job).
They couldn't open the doors, and I saw smoke inside the car. So I got back to the front of the car and started kicking the windsheild, I just wanted to get my son out of that car!!! As I was doing that, fire/rescue arrived on the scene. There was a bunch of confusion because I wouldn't stop kicking out the glass, and they were yelling from outside for mento stop. I guess a paramedic or a cop told me to unlock the doors, I completely forgot I had them all locked!!
Now understand how disorienting this all was, the SUV was on it's side, so I was actually looking for the button to unlock the doors, on the ceiling!
Once I realized that the button was actually under my feet, I was able to unlock all he doors, and fire/rescue got us out through the trunk.
I can't really explain the complex thought process that in involved in experiencing this kind if event, but I know I went in to full on Battle/Survival-mode. From the split-second before impact through the moment we got out of the SUV, I didn't panic, and I didn't really feel fear. It was so weird. As soon as I felt the crash, I could hear my son crying, and I identified it as cries of fear, not pain. And the we're rolling and sliding and all I kept saying was "Stay calm!" and "it's ok"' over and over.
I'm still pretty freaked out by the whole thing, but I am so greatful that my son and I are still alive. We always wear our seatbelts, and that's what saved our lives last night, I know it. I would have flown through the windsheild and my son would have been slammed all over the inside if the SUV. Instead, we have some minor scratches and a few bruises, and my muscles are sore and stiff. I cannot even begin to express my grattitude for surviving that accident practically unharmed, and with my son safely in my arms (he's 9 yrs old, btw). I've got some pics and video that I'll upload a bit later.
On the GLP side of things, my mom shows up at the hospital and tells me "I know this might sound crazy, but I've had a bad feeling all week, like something bad was gonna happen. I even had an mental image of [your son] crying today". She kept trying to assure me that she wasn't making this up. I have no reason to doubt her, as she doesn't know anything about my interests in the paranormal.
Then when I called a friend to tell them about the accident, I say "Ted, my son and I are lucky to be alive right now", and he says "Oh my god, please tell me you don't have bad news too." I didn't get the details, but it seems another one of his friends was arrested for something last night as well.
Any one else have any Mini-Doom experiences last night?

BTW: Accident occured on sw 3rd st in pompano beach fl. I'll add the google earth coordinates when I post the pics and stuff wtf

Ok. Here are some pics. The blurry ones, I took with my iPhone right after they got us out of the car. The focused ones, my fiancé took with his iPhone while my son and I were in the ambulance.

Ummm, oops, I thought that would embed the pics in my post, but you can link to it anyways.

Also here's the coordinates of the crash: 26.226480,-80.152756
And I didn't post any of this because I actually think anyone will care, but it was very real, and very freaky to me, so I'm just sharing.

You bring up a good point.
As much as the mega doom is implanted in our minds, it will be lots of little doom like this.

Good to hear you survived.

Thank you so much.
My son is my life, and I'm so happy that he's ok.

Mini-Doom has a Silver Lining: Even though we will be very inconvenienced by not having a car until the insurance companies sort everything out, I am actually glad that we were in that accident and survived. It was actually life-affirming, somehow.

I'm not really sure. I don't even know how many peope were in the other car. I beleive they took some of them away on a stretcher, and I hope they are ok. I spoke to a claims adjuster a little while ago, and she hasn't been able to contact the other party yet. They might still be in the hospital.

Re: Real Life Mini-Doom Survival Story
glad you and your son are okay.

hope the others aren't too badly injured.

don't sign any insurance papers until you know for sure that you and your son have absolutely no injuries, some may not be noticed immediately.

remember to breathe and relax. as the days go by your emotions and thoughts may collide, so watch for that.

Thanks. It's been messed up since it happened. My son seems to be totally fine, but I'm afraid I got more injuries than first expected. I'm getting a lawyer and all that jazz.

Re: Real Life Mini-Doom Survival Story
I was in a head on collision once, so I know exactly what you mean. Just before impact time seems to slow down and it remains so until all is finished. You remember things real good, but you don't. You get real calm eventhough you are scared. You seem to be able to calculate everything at once and do everything at once at the moment of most danger. Things are sharper than any other time. It is like you are more alive, more aware, than all other times. One of your first memorable thoughts is the safety of your kids (if you have kids) whether or not they are with you during the danger. The shaking doesn't even begin until after you know it is ALL over.
