Quoting: GreenhornOIPS For me, and many it's what you need to take when you go to enjoy the great outdoors. When you go on holiday you take a suitcase don't you? Well we take outdoor stuff, and in my opinion military kit of optimum design for all the fun the great outdoors has to offer. |

Some might like that route, but not me. My attitude is if you can make it cheaper it ain't worth it. That and, in my humble opinion, if it costs 2 to 3 times more than the average price it is for fashion and is crap that will not hold up in the real world. There is a reason a price is average, it is because the avergae purchase is of that item. Why? Because it works for the average person. What does the average person look for? Low price, quality, durability, and lastly fashion. |

But aren't I already a bit of a doomtard by default as I am on this forum? no because I come onto this site to laugh at all the jackass who are lost in their imagination. I am not a doomtard, and so far from your comments I take it you do not masturbate off the thought of doom..... like most of this site. when one of their fucked up prediction dates come along and people can't handle the excitment, or when the senior doomtard hosts a radio show with all the jackasses on here staying up all night to listen. (and you refer to other people as sheep? please keep forking over your money to these nitwits) in the end, no sir it sounds like you are more along the lines of an outdoorsman, maybe I am wrong. I can not blast someone for being prepared if they actually have a legit reason to be put into survival mode. not you losers who prepared for the nuke attack on washington, or the major super duper plague, or that so called planet x. thank you all for amusing me |

sons of scotland User ID: 445319 United States 01/02/2010 05:11 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I bought a vest for survival purposes. It is called Uncle Mity's Travel Vest. It has 17 pockets and is made relatively well. Quoting: moopsI figure I can carry all most everything I need with me all the time (with the exception of a sleeping bag, extra clothing, and a few days of food). I figured I can carry: My handgun A beverage container Spare ammunition An emergency blanket A rain poncho or rain suit Folding binoculars A pen, a sharpie, and a small notepad A Swiss Army Knife A compass Winter gloves A handkerchief An MP3 Player or Cell Phone A USB Cable (or other adaptor) A Spare lighter A Lighter and smokes A Pocket Bible Energy Bars A Mini-maglite Spare batteries for the flashlight About 6-8 feet of twine/string Spare shoe laces And a small survival kit Combined with a day pack or an overnight pack plus cargo pants I could have quite a bit on me with ease. This thing seems to have eternal room in it. I even still have two large pockets left unoccupied for placing my hands in plus three loops for hanging things from! Any suggestions on what I should put in the small survival/medicine kit? I figure I'll use a waterproof container that is about 5 x 3 inches and maybe 2" deep. EXCUSE ME, BUT IF YOU HAVE A SWISS ARMY KNIFE, WHAT DO YOU NEED ALL THAT OTHER CRAP FOR? LOL a swiss army knife is good if you are a boy scout. get a good fixed blade knife like a cold steel srk or a kabar. |

I see myself as a slight bit of a doomtard, but I am definitely more of an outdoorsman who simply needs to be prepared (I normally hike and camp alone at that). Perhaps that is actually where my feelings of impending doom come from as it is not the brightest means of enjoying the outdoors, but then again I am not someone who generally finds those of my stripe to commune with? I have already seen what seemed as certain death a time or two and learned quite quickly from my mistakes (my will is greater than the nature of Death, I suppose). You sir, sound as if you are one of the many who is an outdoorsman yourself, of whom I always quite enjoy waving to and carrying on a brief and quaint conversation with in the wild. And though we never say such, we are also keeping record, recording, and watching out for one another as we know what dangers arise from the little things taken for granted by so many others... |

You can attach it to molle too if you want. But I like having it on my neck, its easy to get to and it can be concealed under my shirt. |
