‘Lost’ fans win against Obama; State of Union speech postponed

New York, January 9 -- President Obama will not be disappointing fans of drama series “Lost” as he decided to postpone the State of Union speech which was scheduled for Feb.2, the same night ABC premiers the final season of the show.

The revelation was made after an ABC reporter asked whether Obama knew about the conflict which was caused due to the speech. The White House then made the announcement on Friday night, calming jittery fans across the nation.

“I don't foresee a scenario in which millions of people that hope to finally get some conclusion in Lost are pre-empted by the president. I assume it's a big deal at ABC,” said White House spokesman Robert Gibbs to AP.

However, Gibbs did not specify a date when the State of the Union speech will be held.

Jubilant producers
Executive producers of the drama show ‘Lost’, Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse, posted their tweets as soon as the change was reported.

“OBAMA BACKED DOWN!!!!” declared Lindelof on his Twitter page. Later he added another comment saying, “Okay. So Obama didn't technically 'back down.' He leveraged Carlton and I to do something on the show. Two words. MORE FROGURT.”

Meanwhile, Cuse promised all fans that he would answer any question that the President posed him. He said, “In exchange for moving his speech, Damon and I promise to answer ANY questions the President has about LOST.”

Fans believe Obama to be secret fan of “Lost”
The ABC drama, which tells the tale of survivors of a plane crash on a mysterious Pacific island, gave rise to online protest campaigns before Friday’s announcement.

One fan said, “Americans against the State of the Union Address on the same night as LOST. I have been waiting all freaking year. I can't wait for Lost another day!!! The State of the Union Address can wait!!!”

Another said, “I want to know about the state of The Island, not the state of the union. BarackObama I will never forgive you.”

However, after the announcement, fans posted numerable comments on their respective Twitter and Facebook pages. Some believed the President to be a secret fan of the show.

One fan said the White House could not have been more accommodating.

Keeping the “Lost” charm alive
Meanwhile, Variety magazine reported that due to the excessive fan-following of the show, Disney executives are figuring out a way to keep the “Lost” charm alive.

It is said that once the show ends, Disney will come out with relevant novels, comic books, games, DVDs and a rumored “Lost” amusement park attraction.

There is also the rumor that a new TV feature called the “Lost: The Next Generation” might get started.
