An Israeli Air Force craft attacked a terror cell preparing to fire projectiles from the southern Gaza Strip into Israel on Sunday evening, the IDF said in a statement.

The intelligence on the cell was gleaned by cooperation between the military and the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency).

The IDF said a direct hit was identified. Three Palestinian terrorists were killed in the operation and five were wounded. The dead Palestinians were identified as senior Islamic Jihad operatives. One of them, the IDF said, was Abed Abu Nizal, a senior field commander in the terror group.

"The IDF will not tolerate shooting by terror groups toward Israel and will continue to operate powerfully and determinedly against any party using terror tactics against Israel," the statement read.
