Our School District NEVER Gave The Kids The Day Off For MLK Day Till Obama Became POTUS
My hubby was born in Brooklyn (his fam is from the Dominican Republic) and we he first moved down here over 13 years ago, he thought it was weird that the school districts down here never really "acknowledged" if you will, MLK Day. I guess they always had the day off in Brooklyn.

After some time, he became use to it.

It wasn't until Obama became POTUS that many districts down here starting giving the kids the day off of school. I think it's pretty nice, except for the part that it didn't happen till Obama became the prez.

For as long as I can remember, my kids never had school on MLK day BUT it always ends up being a make up snow day.

I remember you saying your hubby was black once.. Hes white as shit, you posted a pic before....bottom line you are preocupied with race..therefore a racist. Cheers!

TX gal here in austin we have had the day a gov't/civil holiday since inception though garbage pickup still happens.

for whatever reason it is now ..

and what do people really think on this day? shopping? parades? hangin' out on the corner? for parents like yourself is it a day to think of extra child care?

MLK had great ideas and vison..do people think of them in this day? his vision was human.. and the distortion of it is reptillian in the political sense..

Meaning, that my husband is Hispanic but his family is from a predominately black country. He was used to celebrating MLK day. DUH!

Most of my posts are racist? Shall I look them up for you, or are you big enough to do that yourself?

Get over your damn race card, it fails everytime. It's getting old.

I was stating a freaking FACT about the districts in this area!

I stated my hubby was black? Please provide the link. If I recall correctly I stated that he was from the DR where MOST people are black! LOL.

FAIL!

question to the agitators? why is it racist if you mention your own race/culture?

i have no prooblem with txgal for mentioning her hubby DR native nor her hispanic race...she never implies she is better than anyone else..

and i am no bleeding heart liberal i am a proud conservative libertarian if there is such a thing..

ok i am proud of my eastern european hard working frugal culture my parents instilled in me.. i guess that goes against the statists of today and the whole pc movement.

Growing up on the East side of San Antonio and going to East Central, we always got out for MLK. We would go as a group with teachers from the school to the March, even having matching T-shirts and making signs in homeroom.
It has always been safe, until today.

So up until now you weren't aware that basically the rest of the country has been taking this day for a good 15-20 years now? I find that a bit hard to believe frankly, but if it is true, I can only imagine what other practices may still go on in "deep" Texas that the rest of the country has given up. How did your town miss that it's a national holiday? Let me guess...Redemption, Texas right?
