EDIT

This image was created by subtracting the last two latest SOHO LASCO C2 images. The resulting image shows considerably more detail than the stand-alone images and allows scientists and space weather forecasters to spot locations of activity and very dim events.

White areas of the image are new coronal features that were not visible in previous C2 images. Black areas are old features.

IMPORTANT:

The data stream from which these images are taken contain occasional dark frame images. These dark-frame images will be handled the same as legitimate images. As a result, you may occasionally notice minor glitches in the quality of these difference images when dark-frames appear in the stream. We will be working to remove these dark frames from the data stream in the near-future.

Also, note that the quality of these images will be inferior to those provided by the SOHO LASCO team. The reason for this is the lower quality of the data used to produce these images. These images are taken from a raw data stream and are not calibrated or preprocessed to remove cosmic ray noise or other artifacts prior to subtracting the images. As a result, the images may not be as elegant as the final images provided by the LASCO science team, but they are definitely updated more frequently.

Don't expect perfect images from this service. There will be numerous flaws in the images. This is intended to be a quick-look service only, providing very rapid near-real-time subtracted image analysis. If you want near-perfect images, wait 6 to 12 hours and try to fetch them from the SOHO science team.

This is intended to be a quick-look service for near real-time subtracted image analysis."

SOOOOOoooooo ...
If I read this correctly
then these (black-white-grey) images are more pure and REAL than the images that are "fetched, finished and cleaned" ones provided by NASA 6 to 12 hours later ...

These images are realy RAW and thats good in my opinion.
yes they contain noise and glitches ... but they are more real then we can get.
