Quoting: Prepubescent GodFrom the web cams I've seen they got the interstate taken care of quickly, so it's odd they they are driving through my little town without plowing. Even our local city trucks are driving around and aren't plowing. I live on a corner - state highway out front, neighborhood road to the side - it's odd. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 865062 United States 01/31/2010 12:28 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | What the hell? We had a bit of snow here in NC and the temperatures have been below freezing. The roads by my house are still covered in snow and I have seen lots of snow plows drive passed, but they are not clearing the road or even dropping salt. Quite strange - I'm beginning to feel trapped. Quoting: Turtles Knowwell, thats not nice.its was like zero here. But I know.,soon, the complaints will be its too hot lol |
SubarcticBeef User ID: 560939 United States 01/31/2010 12:29 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | That happened to us back in December when we had our first big snowstorm. The trucks drove through, but with their plows up. They didn't come back until 4 in the afternoon. Large and Powerful [link to i154.photobucket.com] |

Quoting: SubarcticBeefI find it odd, of course most of my big snow experience was in New England where it get cleaned up quick - so since the snow stopped about noon yesterday I've seen 30 or more plows pass and none had their blades down. I guess Southerners do things differently, lol, like I didn't know that. |

Quoting: Turtles KnowHi Turtle Where are you located in relation to the salt reserves the trucks pick up and the interstates and state routes they have to spread it on. Perhaps they have to pass your place to resupply their loads. Also, they would be stupid to plow the snow off of ice without at least putting down salt (which doesn't work so well on ice, sand works better). They at least have some traction in the snow. It is the pits to be stuck out in the sticks, I hope you have stocked up and have fresh water and have heat. The trucks will get to your neck of the woods as they can. Hang in there. |

We're about 5 miles from where the salt and sand is stored. It's just odd, last snow they were right out getting the roads clear, this time not so much. Just drove through town it's a mess, it's starting to thaw, so the snow is slushy, but it's dropping to 12 degrees tonight. I'm not far off the interstate, so I'm not too far out in the sticks. Got plenty of water and the heat and electricity didn't go out, yay!! Just hope that some guy in a 4 wheel drive doesn't try to take the turn in front of my house tonight too fast and end up in my living room. |
