new marlboro "special blend" cigs... i wonder what's so "special" about them?

Tried em yesterday, both red and gold packs. Funny, the gold is def a light cig, but the box doesn't say, I guess you're just supposed to know. I assume our inept gov't told them they can't use the term light anymore but they are - gold pack was awful. Reds were ok but still bland IMO. I'll stick to the Blend. 27's.

The only thing special I see is they are on sale.

I first noticed these cigarrettes laying next to me when I wole up from a night "out on the town" with a "friend, that is a girl".

SHE happens to be married to a police officer in the state capital of the city that I live in. She calls me every now and then and she wants to go drink (she always offers to pay), she ends up using me as an excuse to meet up with other guys... Because I always end up, SUPER FUCKED UP, waking up from being passed out somewhere- But home, no less. The exact same thing is happening: I get home. Shortly after I get home I begin to sweat a lot and I can't move. After moaning on the floor- and then pass out. What ties these experiences to her in particular is the EXACT way it happens once I get home and SHE was the first person around me that had them.

The last couple of times I went out with her- I noticed these god damn cigarettes. The smell ALONE makes me want to vomit.

A) Test cigs by the govt to test out different CRAZY levels of the "date-rape-drug" (this is because of the time frame and my bodyily symptons + the person who I was with) and/or immobilize us- slowly make us "come down" from those who pull "one nighters" (I'll touch on this one too)

B) A type of brand of ciggarette to distinguish 'marks' or POI (points of interest)-- As I start noticing them around me and the people who are smoking them:

A) I recently met or not have known for a while
B) If I have known them, they are in and out of my life every couple of weeks- And they always come over to check on "info" and the scandal
C) The other thing- I may be wrong- But the smokers almost always have a similar brand- Could be "new to town"- and tend to be extremely nosy with info & in your home.

I could just need to point out a few other observations- I'm not paranoid, either. Oh, and the taxes are already paid on those particular brand... They have a sticker on them. Why is that, Surgeon general?

More freebase nicotine. More addictive for you and your friends.

i heard folks gave up cigs cause they needed the money for groceries .or utilities . camel has real turkish blend of tobaco . with fiter my friend says it is smooth cigerete .,

If you go to phillip morris' website they list the ingredients in all of their brands of cigarettes. The ingredients in Marlboro reds and marlboro red special blends are identical.

special blend is really just a blend of tobaccos.

I tried them after smoking marlboro red 100s. They taste similar to me. Only difference I see is the price. If they have an ingredient that is worse for the body than the ones I mentioned prior, let us know. Id rather smoke ones that are less hurtful, not saying that any type of cigarette is good for you of course.

The FIRESAFE paper actually contains the same chemical stucture as is in CARPET GLUE. I smoke myself, have definitely cut down but they just taste so good yknow!

I wouldn't call myself addicted it just... I love havin a good ol fashioned cig. Its really good alone time and its so damn sociable... You non-smokers wouldn't understand :p

Heh, just like me, OP. I like the 27s, but I'll get the Specials because they're always on sale. They're not a bad cigarette, but the 27s do seem to be smoother and better tasting.

Anyways, I'm sure the "special" refers to substandard ingredients. Maybe the ingredients are the same as the normal red box, like one poster said, but I'm sure it's made up of lesser quality ingredients. Like the good tobacco gets sorted into the normal reds, and the lesser into the "specials".

The other day I was at Taco Bell and noticed on the drive-thru menu that they "bragged" about their meat being "88% pure ground beef with 12% of our signature blend". Signature blend being hydrogenated vegetable protein, or whatever that crap is they put in 25 cent microwave burritos.

Its a selling gimmick. Most likely they just used more domestic tobacco over Turkish or something like that as a way to make them cheaper and are selling it as 'special blend'.

They ruined cigarettes when they got rid of cork filters and replaced that with cellulose acetate.

I used to buy "special blend" because they were a dollar cheaper than regular Marlboros.

However, I've switched to "Buffalo", distributed by the Seneca Indian Nation. The first half of the cigarette has a full-blown tobacco taste. The second half is where the chemicals have gathered. The feds made the Senecas put crap into the cigarette.

Also, they cost half the price of Marlboros. One carton of ten packs in Texas, including tax, costs just below $37.

Hmmm special and cheaper...probably have more tobacco worms in them.

personally, i think they have more of the fire-retardant chemicals in them. i find that they have a tendency to go out quicker than regular Marlboros. also, where i get them at, they are always cheaper than any other cigarette on the shelf. i can walk out the door paying roughly $5 for any special blend cigg, compared to $6-$8 for other marlboros. and as stated above, since they do have a different taste, maybe they are using a lower grade tobacco blend, or maybe the stale leftover tobacco form the regular smokes, trying to save some money.

they call them 27s because you start smoking them at 17 and you're dead at the age of 27. Look at all the celebrities who died at the age of 27

Maybe they use cheaper non-American tobacco.

My son uses Gambler tobacco and he's really happy with it.
