D.C. Preparing for Another Blizzard, Crews are already preparing for the worst as another storm system moves closer to the D.C. region.
The D.C. National Guard is requiring all emergency and essential personnel to report to work beginning at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Forecasters warn the approaching storm has the potential to be dangerous, bringing with it damaging winds and heavy snow, which could once again knock out power for residents. The city continues to clear roads of snow, and authorities are asking residents to clear sidewalks, check on seniors, and to once again prepare for yet another storm.
The National Weather Service (web | news) has issued a winter storm waring for Tuesday into Wednesday. Snow accumulations of 10 to 20 inches are likely.
The D.C. National Guard is also helping law enforcement officials and emergency responders make it to work in the snow.



The city's National Guard says that by Monday it had completed nearly 200 missions, transporting police, firefighters, doctors and other emergency workers to their jobs in Humvees.
Guard officials also have helped motorists who got stuck on snow-covered roads. Their 113th Wing at Andrews Air Force Base has kept F-16s on alert throughout the storm. //////////////////////////////////////// ///////////////////////////////////Snow continues to fall around the Great Lakes from Chicago to Cleveland and the sonw will continue for awhile.
The heaviest band of snow should set up from southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois eastward through southern Michigan, northern Indiana, and northern Ohio where the snow should be most persistent. Accumulations there should be 4 to 8 inches. A few areas in northwest Indiana and southwest Michigan could pick up 10 to 15 inches with some additional moisture from Lake Michigan Wednesday.
Lighter amounts of 2 to 5 inches are expected over the Ohio Valley through Tuesday evening.
Farther east, light snow has already reached the Baltimore-Washington area. Snow will be on the increase through the evening and overnight and will spread northeastward as a new storm forms along the North Carolina coast.
That storm lifts northward and will grow rapidly stronger overnight and Wednesday bringing heavy snow and strong winds from northern Virginia through southern New England.
The combination of the heavy snow and wind gusts over 50 mph will produce blizzard conditions at times in the Washington, D.C., to Boston corridor. Some gusts over southeast New England may reach 60 mph.
Snow accumulations of 12 to 18 inches may prevail from northern Virginia through southern New England.
