Yes OP...I think we all knew that, but remember the main reason why is that the majority of "reality" television shows would be boring if not acted on from an outside force (such as a segment producer).

Like it or not...MOST things are staged as VERY few things happen in REAL time...many things from weddings to music albums to new product/company releases to even births are staged or rather planned in advance over time. The other option for many things could be either chaos or boring segments in the can.
