You're in the hands of professionals. What a great time to be off your feet and in front of the tv...right before a Presidential election lol If THAT doesn't make your foot heal faster (so you don't have to watch the Presidential election news 24/7), I don't know what will. :) Apollo astronauts couldn't have passed through Van Allen's Belt. Van Allen wore suspenders. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 24821273 If they put a pin in you'll have a permanent limp. Saw it happen to several on their way out of the USN. Stiff joints has a couple of causes that are reversible without surgery. But i guess you're set to go. No, mine's BAD! I saw the X-rays, and those were taken before deployment. The first joint of my big toe looks like a flange, and the ends of each bone are curled back like scrollwork. Even if I do end up with a limp, I'll adjust. I've heard of people running marathons with a fused toe. It's good to be open-minded, just don't let your brain fall out. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 24630875 i had nice nurses though. good luck. That's cool! They knocked me out. I wanted to be awake, but their way did seem to save time, . Quoting: The Guy UPDATE: Back home now, on Percocet and feeling no pain. I actually had no cartilage left in the big toe, so they had to fuse it so why didn't they collect your cartilage cells and grow you another piece and put it in there? |

LindaE User ID: 1415061 United States 10/06/2012 12:37 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | With my hubby, they took out the first joint, shortening the toe, so it looks funny, but after a time he managed to go back to playing racquetball. Of course, he could use the toe operation as an excuse why he couldn't play as well as before. But he rarely used it... only if he was losing badly. LOL! |

I haven't seen it without bandages yet, so I don't know if he shortened it. All I know is that they fused it with two screws. It's good to be open-minded, just don't let your brain fall out. |
