Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 862727 United States 03/01/2010 07:00 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Greece -- Cash On Hand: in forum [Rumors]: [link to tickerforum.org] Aynrandfan: Word is that the Greek gov't is now down to about 3 weeks worth of cash-on-hand to fund it's operations; you might see this over at Mish's site or Zero Hedge over the next day or two. The Greek government is already planning on "orderly shutdowns" of "non-essential" parts of the government if it can't arrange for anything beyond that point. 3 weeks, folks. That's all they've got. |

IBs, SWFs and Hedge funds play up these 'crises' (often causing them to begin with) so they can drive up bond yields and make even more money. Nobody wants .25-.75% returns anymore. Greece's debt-to-GDP is nothing compared to Italy or the UK but they made an easy target for speculative attack. The UK is next though - they're weak due to an upcoming election. Canada will be a target too, if an election is called (which will happen if the next budget fails to go through parliament) and the Liberals or NDP score to high in the polls. |

Thanks a lot! LOL, that´ll help a lot. Best thing they could do is paying nothing and letting EU die! |

Seems to me that the back-channels will be busy with deal maiking while the news channels are full of the the jingoistic bollocks to keep that countries voters happy. Let's face it, evry country is in the sh1t thanks to all politicians giving away our money to the banksters. rant over. just my 2 $ worth. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 903996 Malaysia 03/01/2010 09:05 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Big European companies have been begging for a weaker Euro ... Do you really think that an economy like Greece that is only 2.5% of the total economic power of the EU is able to bring the whole lot down? Jesus, we here in the States are dealing with a couple of near bankrupt states too, and take CA, they are a huge % of our total economic might. Nothing but stirring the shit to get our $ more expensive and their EURO cheaper. |

It is not permitted since Greece is in the Eurozone. I believe there will be the a bankruptcy that might bring other things amongst civil unrest. There are a lot of illegal immigrants that survive and send money back to their countries because they work for private companies that do infrastructure works (like building roads etc) for the government, so when there will be no money, they might turn against Greece and Greek natives |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 829862 China 03/01/2010 09:41 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | greece' economy is really nothing in comparison to funktioning states. It is a holiday economy where hardly anything is made or produced... except oliveoil maybe. Dont get your hopes up too high about a country like that destroying the EU or the euro. It is just like one of the states in the USA is on the verge of defaulting... Hey, isnt that exactly what is happening ??? But i think in the case of the USA it is way more than one state!! So you europe haters can bend over and take it up the ass when the dust settles and we continue to weaken the dollar. Cheers! |
