For years when I was younger I used to smoke, and could never remember my dreams. Once I quit, now I remember them every night. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 926074I want to quit smoking weed, because it hinders me to explore the world of lucid dreaming! it is nearly impossible when your mind is dull... Take melatonin in the meantime, and try to quit. You will feel your body and mind come back to life within a couple weeks. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 967396 Australia 05/11/2010 12:26 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | there is absolutely no evidence or research on planet earth that concludes weed can cause mental illness rather there is some evidence to support that it can simply increase chances of particular illness like schizophrenia to those who have genetic history with such a disease. as far as i know short term memory loss is all they got... to the smart arse who says "weed rots the brain" get your facts right before you pollute my computer screen with such dribble you ignorant fool. (your previous comments)= keep smoking for all its worth guys p.s after smoking regularly for the last 4 months i have lost all ability to even recall whether i did infact dream the previous night. i have stopped now for 48 hours in a lone attempt to see whether or not, and how quickly i resume dreaming patterns and the ability to recall them..will keep you all posted on my research and findings |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 732782 United States 05/11/2010 12:29 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Yes, the Mary Jane interfere with the dreaming memorizing. I just stop to remember my dreams after five years of smoking. When I give a break, I remember my dreams. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 915909I think that when we smoke our brain must use the same process need to remember the dreams during the sleep. So when you go sleep, you do not need or cannot remember the dream because the process was already used. Interesting, when someone is high, it can let the imagination fly away like in a dream. It just a matter to link this with something pleasure. I like to listen music and let my imagination work as a dream, using the music to shape the sensations. I saw an interesting lecture with Dr. Dennis McKenna, Terence's big brother, at the University of Hawaii a few years ago. His talk was on marijuana, short term memory and dream recall. He explained how much emphasis (and value) our culture places on the ability to recall mundane information. Someone is considered 'smart' in our society if they can rattle off a bunch of facts and remember all the petty details of modern life, such as quoting data verbatim and remembering strings of unassociated digits like bank account numbers. Then he pointed out that this focus on short term memory is causing us to disconnect from other crucial mental processes and consequently we are losing contact with the deeper parts of our psyche. As a result, we have to process all the symbolic stimuli during our sleep cycle, the only chance the brain gets to escape this narrow focus and expand. He went on to say that the chemicals in marijuana stimualte our ability to comprehend and contemplate the more 'arcane' aspects of life while conscious, at times overriding the short term memory function in favor of larger insights. Since marijuana users process their symbolic experiences regularly on a conscious level, they don't have to rely on the dream state to deal with this issues. Consequently, it is not as vital for them to consciously 'recall' their dreams. Fascinating theory, no? That is fascinating!! Long time user----hardly dream at all that i can remember. BUT i can recall many things i've absorbed:)..sorta like it was a dream. lol |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 926074smoking cannabis seems to have an effect on sleeping patterns, especially in the REM-sleep, where we dream at most. do you remember your dreams my fellow smoke-heads??? OP, why not ask if cigarettes and alcohol hinder your ability to remember dreams? They are so very harmful, yet legal. TIME for double standards is over; either legalize/decriminalize pot or ban cigarettes and alcohol as well. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 957465 United States 05/11/2010 12:52 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Dude it is 100% documented fact that smoking weed causes you to not "see" your dreams. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 829503Agreed, weed does change your relationship to dream time. I think weed helps us intergrate the deeper symbolic messages of life into our daily existence, hence we are spared the hectic processing of data once we are finally unconscious during the night. Is that a bad thing? I am not an authority, but I have observed that when I do remember my dreams after smoking week, they are usually much more profound that the confusing dreams I experience when there is no weed in my system. Perhaps that is the nature of the plant, to free us from having to process all that meaningless data before we can take our nightly soul journey back to source, which some refer to as 'sleeping.' |

The vast majority of cannabis is NOT laced with anything. This is especially true for the United States, which has a huge and diverse home growing culture. Lacing is seen as disrespectful to both the plant and your fellow stoners. There are a handful of isolated incidents from the UK of supposed "laced weed", and occasionally people will lace it with PCP (as this is the preferred way of doing PCP), but this is extremely rare and the people partaking are usually well aware of what they're smoking. 2. I'm 100% certain that most patients in a "nut house" have been drinking water. So according to your logic, water caused them to go crazy, too. Its reverse logic. People with mental illnesses are drawn to drug use. That's, use of ANY drug. |

Plain and simple for all the dipshits who continue to to come with "modern weed" bullshit. Your mental illness is speaking on subjects you are ignorant about. yes it all comes down to the brains ability to produce alpha waves which are normally fairly dormat over waking hours...marijuana promotes brain alpha wave activity (which is also responsilbe for dreams) this is why when high your brain has extremely lateral and creative thought (most of the 20th centuries most iconic music was created in this state) .....your brain can only put out so much alpha wave activity over a certain period so frequent marijuana users exhaust a lot of that output over the day so at night the alpha wave activity is not as strong so their dreams arent as vivid and are hard to recall........ |

So Nut houses must have more drunks than potheads. but in fact, nuthouses contain niether potheads or drunks, If you have never smoked pot on a regular basis, then your opinion doesnt even matter on this thread. and all u who are sitting there waiting to reply to this, get a life. Ill probably never check this thread again. Lighten up prudes. |

I always used to think it was beneficial and harmless. Then a few full moons back I took one hard look at my life and it was complete shambles. Not one aspect of my life worked and in that moment I knew I had to give up that which I loved most in life. And love the sacred herb I did. The dreams I have had since stopping have been mind blowing, and transforming. I feel I have been reborn. The best thing I ever did was stop and I never, ever thought I would ever say that. I wish Harmony, Love, Truth and Justice for all my brothers and sisters. With the United forces of the silent vibrations of our thoughts, we are strong, healthy and happy thus making a link of universal fraternity.. |

God tells us to be careful what we think. He also says that the dreamworld is the things of vanity and that he is in there too while we dream. Many dreams are your own creation. If God gives you one, you will remember it for the rest of your life regardless of any circumstance. |
