WTF????? Digital alarm clock running 35 minutes fast!!! | |
VOR User ID: 984012 United States 06/06/2010 01:47 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I was playing volleyball in a school gym on may 19th, and at about 7 pm the clock on the wall started spinning fast. When it was about 2 two hours ahead, it resumed normal speed. Depending on how you set your computer's clock, it nay or may not be adjusted to the atomic clock. |

Quoting: Dr.Walter.BishopI would bet they are the most accurate time peices in anybodies house unless they have a certified chronometer. Yall say some crazy shit sometimes. Quoting: susu 1468440"What you have just said, is the most insanely idiotic thing I have ever heard. At no point, in your rambling incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points and may God have mercy on your soul." |

Computer motherboard power supplies may cause problems trying to condition errant variations in power line frequency. It all depends on where the equipment derives its base timing reference standards, either a on-board crystal oscillator or the power line 60Hz pulse. There is also a potential for a hybrid system that uses both. I believe the power companies should comply with established standards. All the equipment made to this point is based on this standard and I believe it is irresponsible to break away and leave it to fate and unintended consequences, peoples lives maybe in jeopardy. I hope nobody in your community hospital is on a timed IV drip, if those machines run fast, somebody may die from a overdose. X-Ray machines and other radiological machines might over expose you to radiation. One such reason is that the EXACT same thing happened about a month ago (and just a little before the US gov made this announcement) in Sicily. They were not playing around with the Hz there. Rather, it turned out to be due to mount Etna, which started spewing ash a short time later. Where do you live OP? Are you very near a fault line? |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1450292 United States 07/15/2011 01:55 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Any amateur radio hobbyist out there reading this post, is it possible some older or even newer equipment may frequency drift off station? Some of you folks fix and really know your equipment and you maybe familiar with their design. The reason I'm asking this that I'm wondering if power line frequency maybe used as master oscillator for the PLL digital tuning synthesizers within consumer radios and television equipment. I hope nobody has taken this approach to shave costs. It would have terrible consequences for any type of radar used for air traffic control I think. I hope this isn't like a Y2K event. exie User ID: 1466279 United States 07/15/2011 02:43 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | there is an experiment going on with regulation of the alternating current. it has to flow at a steady rate to keep clocks etc. on time. that is being changed to a fluctuating current. anything with a timer, like coffee makers, microwaves, clocks, will be off. sometime during july, so i guess it's started. i will try to find the link. |

Kane47 User ID: 28870912 United States 01/01/2013 11:10 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My digital alarm clock/radio always gains time. A computer that has since had to be replaced had begun synchronizing with the gained time on the digital clock although they are not plugged into the same outlet. I came to realize this as my cell phone had the correct time on it in conflict with the computer and the clock. Kind of nutty. |
