Cat wants me to watch him eat

we have a siamese and himalayan mix she has blue eyes and am amased at how smart she is cats are so cool and she doesnt need to be walked there so self sufficent.

My cat leads me to her bowl only when she wants it filled. She's like clockwork every night at 8 pm, she begs and leads until I fill the dish. She doesn't care if I stick around to watch though:)

If the cat has moved to a new home recently this is a form of separation anxiety. He/she is just insecure and wants you to be near, that's all. It'll fade in time.

I am guessing you have never had a cat before,they own you!

I feel the same about my kitteh....I have to pet her while she eats and sing the 'Jessie Kitty' song. Obviously,her name is Jessie.

He stands in front of his completely full food and water bowls, looks at them, looks at me, meows like he's dying, looks at his food again, looks back at me, repeats, over and over and over CONSTANTLY all day, every day for the last year. He gives me a sad/pathetic look when he looks at me, as if he wants me to find it in my heart to fill his already full food and water dishes.

It pisses me off.

Is your dog a rescue? My dog does the same thing! He'll start to eat, but if I leave the room he will follow me around. He doesn't have separation anxiety though, neighbors are always commenting on how quiet he is when i'm not there.

I have cats that do that too. I find that if I just stir up the dry food, pick it up and let it drop...kitty is satisfied and goes on to eat.

I never have this problem with wet food...it disappears quickly.

One always comes up to me whilst I'm dropping a deuce. Every time. I pick her up and hold her like a little baby for a minute and let her go. I think she must like the smell. Weird cat.

I dont understand it anyway but people giving lazy attention when you dont need it should be acceptable.

My dog (150 lb.) Shepherd/timber wolf watchdog wouldn't go to the bathroom without me. When I'd let him outside he would just stand at door until I came out and walked him to his potty spot.

For some weird reason it is something he wanted to share with me. Like people I think some of them just get weird idiosyncrasies.

He doesn't like the food. He's asking for something else. Try another brand. Some of them are full of chemicals the cat can smell.

That explains why he's losing weight.

You cat probably wants fresh dry food. Key word is fresh. Take a handful of fresh food and sprinkle it on top, and your cat will probably be happy.

The two kittens here don't normally try to eat me until there's no food in the bowl. Then it's a pain just to walk around. Then will run and jump up on my leg and attach like a kid not wanting to leave a candy store, and bite my legs and ankles. What's funny is they'll also start gnawing on the edges of things like the laptop monitor. This is even if the food just went empty. I go fill up the catfood dishes and they just go about normal life, not even eating until later. It's just the act of having catfood there and available.

That said, the one kitten was trying to drown himself in my water. He kept trying to drink it and being the shape of the glass was square, he couldn't see the water level and kept dipping his nose in too far and breathing while trying to lap up the water. xD It was so funny, and he sneezed, but he did figure it out after a couple snorts of water filling the kitten sinuses.

Kitties are awesome, and on occasion the kittens grace me with their presence and their gratitude...the one kitten more often than the other. ^_^

Cats are a little autistic, once they develop a habit they wont break it till there good and ready...if ever
Changing your habits may help to change kittehs, but prolly not, if your lazy and dont want to watch kitteh eat then feed her in the lounge room while you watch the telly, kitteh will think you are watching

Eating, no problem. If he wants you to watch him do other things..wel, you've got some choices to make. No judgement, though.
