"National Weather Service Science and Operations Officer Charlie Paxton says while it's always possible a water spout could pick up some oil and carry it a short distance, the notion of black rain is just not possible. Paxton says that's because oil does not evaporate. As a result, talk of black rain is just a myth."
 Quoting: StillComposed

Fish and Frogs don't evaporate either, but there are plenty documented cases of them raining down from storm clouds.

Google it.

Yeah and fish. But that is usually cuz they were picked up by a swirling mass. God didn't will their asses up there and they damn sure didn't evaporate.
They should take the warning labels off of everything and let stupidity sort itself out.

Florida, much like Texas has lived off the tit of oil.

I don't know if that will change, even if black rain comes down...

And storms are what, dumbass?
Swirling masses.
That's how fish, frogs and OIL can get up there.
What goes up usually comes down.
If what went up is liquid -
it just might come down in drops, n'est pas?

Re: BLACK RAIN IN SWFL ---
If you've ever lived on the gulf coast, you'd know that waterspouts happen daily. That's all that's needed to get the oil up into the clouds.

***

"The Florida Keys "are the greatest, natural vortex lab in the world," says Golden. "Waterspouts probably occur more frequently in the Florida Keys than anywhere in the world."

Waters around the Keys, especially from Marathon past Key West on westward to the Dry Tortugas, probably see 400 or 500 waterspouts a year. Since they are so common, most go unreported unless they cause damage. "

"After the Florida Keys, the next most active U.S. waterspout area is the southeast Florida Coast from around Stuart south to Homestead. Tampa Bay has the greatest number of damaging waterspouts, probably because the shores of the Bay are so built up. "

Re: BLACK RAIN IN SWFL ---
Aside from just the "blanket concern" about black oil rain, there should be a concern NOW about the Benzene that evaporates and adheres to precipitation and falls to earth, contaminating the soil:

From a government study
----------------------------

1. Benzene in the air can attach to rain or snow and be carried back down to the ground.

2.It breaks down more slowly in water and soil, and can pass through the soil into underground water.

---------------------------

Damage from benzene:

Breathing very high levels of benzene can result in death, while high levels can cause drowsiness, dizziness, rapid heart rate, headaches, tremors, confusion, and unconsciousness. Eating or drinking foods containing high levels of benzene can cause vomiting, irritation of the stomach, dizziness, sleepiness, convulsions, rapid heart rate, and death.

The major effect of benzene from long-term exposure is on the blood. Benzene causes harmful effects on the bone marrow and can cause a decrease in red blood cells leading to anemia. It can also cause excessive bleeding and can affect the immune system, increasing the chance for infection.

Some women who breathed high levels of benzene for many months had irregular menstrual periods and a decrease in the size of their ovaries, but we do not know for certain that benzene caused the effects. It is not known whether benzene will affect fertility in men.

Wow! You guys have been duped. I live off of college prkwy next to midpoint bridge(right next to the live cam) and it has rained a little today but there has been NO black rain. Just got done reading through this whole thread and also contacting a couple friends throughout the area. No one I know in this area has seen ANY black rain. You guys need to quit believing these unsubstantiated claims. Why the hell is this garbage pinned? Troll thread...

2. This is NOT normal oil. It has been highly altered by dispersants, making it SOLUBLE IN WATER and therefore, I believe, able to be picked up by storm activity.
 Quoting: Nobody you know...

I fully agree. When I lived near Sherman, Texas, it would rain red mud that was caused by all the dust blowing in from west Texas.

With all these disbursement chemicals thinning out the oil sludge, I'm expecting black rain this summer if storms from the west over the Gulf loop start blowing into Sarasota County. If not, I'm sure a hurricane or two will make believers out of all those who spent 8 pages on this thread telling the OP he's a shill.
