At least with sports stars, they wear the logo, trade mark of their sponsors on their shirts, uniforms, hats etc, so you know who you are supporting. With politicians, they just get to wear a suit and talk about their party, while completely leaving out who they are getting their campaign money from. Why are the sports stars wall to wall walking bill boards for their sponsors, yet the politicians who all get the same money from the same sponsors, get to walk around in plain suits? I suppose it would show that they all are on the same team if they did show their sponsors, and so I suppose the divide and conquer routine would then no longer work!

The "THEY" could only be used here, because unlike the rest of the world in the public eye, politicians don't advertise who sponsors them.

You know, that sounds great. I wish it were true, as many across this nation wished. But it just isn't.

We have not had a president with independent thinking since JFK. It's what got him killed.
Every president since then has been controlled and has followed orders.

We are headed down a very grim road.

Obama promised at August 2009 in Phoenix at the A.F veterans meeting that he is going to stop the "special interests" and their exotic programs which always appear delayed at their time schedules for several years and are mostly over priced with several millions.

The new F-35 which will replace all multi role fighter aircraft of the US Air Force, is a complete failure and Obama has failed to see even that. It will become overpriced x4. Already has less carrying ability and total range than A-10,
at 1/3 heavier in the wing versus load ration from an F-16, which means it will be less agile and less maneuverable than an F-16, and it's coming close pretty close to much the F-105s that got its ass kicked Migs over Northern Vietnam in the 1960s. Not to mention that F-35 is much more overpriced than the F-16 and F-18s and A-10s.

Obama obviously doesn't believe that aircraft should be tested before contracts are signed and they get bought.

No air superiority for US Air Force means less Global American superiority which is not necessarily a bad thing for the rest of us minus the hardcore Western allies!
Of course this is going to escalate in less or no F-35 orders from the rest of the Western allies. Britain already mentioned that is reconsidering the initial deal from 140 to just 50 and those 50 are also questionable.

On the good side there is the alleged stealth ability of the F-35, but yet again, how much this had helped against theaters with even primitive arsenal like Iraq or Serbia? Both got some free F-111s for their freak museums, displaying next to the monster lady with the two heads.

I have seen tiny bits of incremental progress, but his presidency has convinced me personally that it no longer matters which side, which figurehead is actually installed, because they all work towards the same goals, just with more or less aggressive methods. I actually think that if you were going to *attempt* to make an INTELLIGENT thread, you might look at that fact instead. BUT since you are so obviously still tied into the false left/right paradigm and YOU are after all, the one who asked such a stupid, yet terribly relevant question...I would have to say, NO, he's done nothing right. Obama made it illegal for banks to hit your card with overdraft fees. I just was ask by my bank if I wanted to have overdraft payments set up on my debit card. I said hell no, if there isnt enough money in my account, then dont charge it.

they didnt like that very much and the branch manager tried to talk me out of it. But thanks to Obama its now my choice.

For now, I refuse to speak a word against our President. Never in my lifetime have I ever seen the scope and depth of problems that this man has had to face. (I'll be sixty this year and watched my father panic during the Cuban Missle crisis, so I'm talkin' about a lot of years between then and now.)

Never have I seen the economy is such bad condition, on the verge of collapse before Obama took office. TARP which bailed out the banks was passed before he took office, but The Recovery Act from which local communities have benefited was passed within weeks of Obama's becoming President.
1. The Recovery Act

Never have a seen a foreign policy so screwed up as when Obama took office. Two endless wars that Obama has addressed by drawing down troops in Iraq and changing strategy in Afghanistan. The peace process in Israel completely derailed, which Obama has attempted to address by appointing George Mitchel as a special envoy. North Korea more isolated and militant than ever, which Obama has addressed by engaging China more on that issue. Iran on the verge of acquiring nuclear weapons, which Obama has addressed by bringing Europe and particularly Russia into the diplomatic issues. Contempt for the United States worldwide for Iraq policy and condoning torture, which Obama has addressed by stopping the use of torture and by reaching out not only to allies in Europe, but also to the rest of the world, which includes (like it or not) Islamic nations.
2. Redirecting foreign policy.

Never in my life have I seen the middle class so burdened and even threatened by the expense of Health Care. My father whom I mentioned earlier had the security of knowing that he would not go bankrupt because of medical bills, which was a big deal because he had serious health problems.
3. Health Care Reform

Never in my life have I seen the banking industry so corrupt.
4. Banking Reform in conference committees in the House and Senate. Should be signed this summer.

Never in my life have I seen the United States on the certain path of $5.00 a gallon gas prices.
5. Alternative energy policies in discussion in the House and Senate now. Also, the Recovery Act provided money for small businesses that addressed energy issues.

Never in my life have I seen the American public so ill-informed about politics and foreign policy, but Obama can't do anything about ignorance.

On top of the problems the man was handed when he took office, we now have an unprecedented and life-changing event going on right now in the form of the 2010 Oil Gusher. I believe the man started on Day One to address this problem as completely as possible, given the nature of the scientific limitations and the scope of the logistics involved. This is not the time to bitch and complain. This event is too serious. Too monumental. Too overwhelming for any country.

So I refuse to speak a word against any man who would be President now.

I'm reminded of an article in "The Onion" that was written when Obama was elected, titled:
"Black Man Gets Worst Job in History."

He has done an excellent job, especially after the turd the Republicans passed off after 8 years. Think about it. Obama inherited the financial crisis, 2 wars, the employment crisis, the banking crisis, and the automotive industry crisis.... and who did the Republicans blame for the global crash? Acorn... yep.... you got it... Acorn. Perhaps it is time they turn off the Nintendo and the t.v. and read something. Look at how apathetic they are to the Gulf oil problem.

*I remember when science was important in our country. (The angst regarding Obama's response to the Gulf Oil gusher is largely because people can't comprehend the science involved.)
*I remmember when the welfare of all citizens was considered important. (Working conditions and spotty, overly expensive health care would be considered a national disgrace 40 years ago.)
*I remember when words mattered. John F. Kennedy's address when he said, "Ask not what country can do for you, but what you can do for your country," would be seen as a poltical ploy today. Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I have a dream" speech would be picked apart within 24 hours.
*I remember when dispassionate debate was considered a national virtue. (William F. Buckley wouldn't be able to out scream Glen Beck today. Besides Buckley's reasoned arguments, albeit conservative, wouldn't make good TV.)
*I remember in 1980 when the United States was the largest creditor nation on earth. (Thanks Ronald Reagan for making us the largest debtor nation on earth.)
*I remember when jacking up interest rates on credit cards to well over Prime Rate was against the law. (Thank you Republican Congress of the 1980s.)
*I remember when people avoided getting into debt. It was considered a matter of character. (Not so in the past fifteen years with the banksters having been let loose.)
*I remember in 1991, when Ross Perot was railing about the consequences of the National Debt. (I also remmeber that Bill Clinton left office with a budget surplus.)
*I remember George Herbert Walker Bush saying that invading Iraq in 1992 would be an economic catastrophe, in additon to a waste of blood. (People forgot that when they supported Junior's 2003 invasion with a national war fever that I had never seen before.)
*And I remember when people remembered history, not only the history of past decades, but also recent, immediate history -- like the past 5 years! for gawd's sake.

So ... in the face of national emergencies, I won't utter a word against the man who would be President now.
