have you guys considered that bp, a publically owned company, can sell their oil rigs in alaska to make up for lost income? they can sell to china if they want to

don't be as offended as you are. after all it's nature. if these animals were meant to stay alive they would have flown away when the oil first started coming. these things are just dumb!

They're conscious living beings... they've just never encountered anything like this. They avoid hazards usually (predators, etc).. but this is new to them and are unaware of the danger until it's too late.


No, I'm really afraid the original poster here was more correct, animals are indeed STUPID with no ability to think or reason. I live in an area where deer are common, and believe me if animals had ANY brains, they would know how to cross a road without getting turned into bloody broken bags of bones. Lets face it, stop, look both ways, and proceed is NOT rocket science, and they CAN'T do it.

Also, the damn roads are where they have been for GENERATIONS of deer lifetimes, yet they continue to slaughter themselves in the same places, generation after generation. Obviously they lack even the most rudimentary means to tell their offspring to STAY AWAY FROM ROADS.

Animals are MORONS... It's just the way they are.

OK, Breath underwater like a fish, or Fly without a machine like a bird.... then i will believe u to be the smartest. Countless list of Challenges could be given to the Humans to perform in which they will fail those Birds & Animals.

Maybe Humans are Morons too in their viewpoints, for they fails in easy tasks that could be performed easily by a Bird or Animal. At least those Birds & Animals doesn't goes on destroying the Planet itself which gives them shelters.

Show me a dolphin that can dive underwater for MONTHS at a time, or a fish that can attain the depths that a nuclear sub can.

Show me a bird that can fly at supoersonic speed, or trnsition in flight to a hover, or that GO THE THE MOON...

But will we? I really want to believe we can as a whole. It takes more than a few. It requires complete change in man's behaviors regarding this planet and how we live on it.


It will have to be a complete and utter change from what we are now.

This is the first time I cried looking at a post. Its not only the pictures, it is the comments...I am crying right now writing this...there has to be a catalyst that pushes us to be different...Why does it have to be something this horrible to start changing us...?



I have cried umpteen times over this tragedy. SS, I don't know if even this is enough to do it.


Yeah...I read back over what I wrote...and I didn't mean that this event would change us, but it is pushing some of us to be different. It absolutely sucks to be so separated that this goes on, and if it wasn't for pictures we would be totally clueless. We are sooooo separated from the place we call home.

And as you can see, by some of the responses in this thread, that religion has played a huge part in condoning and promoting that separation by placing man far above everything else.

And because of that "superiority", man has continued to destroy his own home without regard or thought.

You know, as much as I genuinely hate to say it, this guy has the most realistic attitude about this. The whole thing is absolutely terrible you'll get no argument from me, but WE need to live and support ourselves as well, and as much as you may not like it, OIL is the fuel upon which the entire industrialized world we depend on runs.

As for all you wind and solar people, let's see you blow your hot air in your tank and get to work.

Alternate technology which is undoubtedly developmentally necessary is simply NOT capable of running the world in which we live. It may keep the grow-lights lit up in your subterrainean herb farm, but that's about all it's good for.

You ain't gonna put up a building or build a road or haul good across the nation on sunshine, SUNSHINE!

So I say we bite the bullet, clean up our messes as we create them, do the best we can, but NOT allow the LEFTIST agitators and nut cases to hijack this catastrophe to further their pet goal of destroying Western Civilization.



I thought I couldn't live without my car until it broke down and has been at the garage for a month while they are trying to fix it.
And you know what, each week that's gone by I've realized I need it less and less. I now to my push bike for everything. It's quicker than I thought it would be to get to the local shops, gives me exercise, I can fit the shopping I need in my backpack.
Now I guess I'm lucky that I've got stuff local to me but some neighbors use their car for everything, even 5 minutes walk to the local newsagent to get a paper, they will drive. You hardly see anyone walking now, so many people are used to driving everywhere for every little thing.


I agree with you 100%. I wish everyone could understand we DO NOT need our cars for every trip we take, even around the corner for a newspaper. If we could all just ride our bike and save the car for a actual trip, the world would be a happier place : )

This oil spill makes me so sad. Shame on that company. And shame on us for being addicted to oil
