Anonymous Coward User ID: 957461 United States 06/08/2010 01:41 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I think this is wishful thinking. There is nothing in recorded human history to support the notion that this sort of thing ever happens to humanity. Quoting: JddThere's a big difference between a 100th Monkey type learned behavior across a social group (behavioral evolution, if you will), and mass ascension or surging forward to consciousness by all the living entities on the planet. The latter is not supported by Truth, because it would obviate the individual's free will. Not every being WANTS to ascend, or be propelled forward. They enjoy a certain level of sense gratification -- consciousness -- and that is the sum total of their desire nature. As a follower of the Vedas, I don't accept the notion that the individual's free will is overridden for 'common good', or any other reason. The nature of the soul (jivatma) is sacrosanct. The jiva has free will to relate to the Supreme as s/he will (or won't). That is the eternal cosmic struggle. To attempt to replace it with an illusory, hope against hope scenario like the one you propose is, I think, a useless proposition. The vedas are for social control and maintaining a status quo, just like every other religious text. They are certainly an interesting philosophical trip, but nothing more. Beings DO actually all want to ascend, whether they are conscious of it or not. As the saying goes, "All rivers run in the same direction." Doesn't Hinduism have an equivalent to the Buddhist Zen? Direct experience of the Self (as opposed to the intellectual fascination in it) is the only thing that can truly help anyone. You might as well be reading Harry Potter if your "third eye isn't open" (I dislike that saying), if you can't read in between the lines, and/or you don't trust your intuition. If this is the state of your being, even if you are reading the vedas, you might as well be sprinting blindfolded through the light for all the good it does you. |

But I don't think it's what the OP was suggesting. He referred to a 'point of singularity', which is generally a different concept, as it's discussed these days. Now maybe he wasn't clear, and he really meant what you're suggesting, but I don't think so. it isn't about being forced to evolve or anything like that... Quoting: Anonymous Coward 996845it is about an evolutionary motion of the earth which will undergo a sort of 'nervous breakdown' (earthquakes, magnetic storms, solar storms)...after which, will become a more 'peaceful place'...with the only human survivors being those that are COMPATIBLE with this change. each human still continueing on their personal path...with most that are now here...leaving the planet.(physical death) |

Jdd User ID: 919551 Canada 06/08/2010 02:10 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | AC, you're uninformed and incorrect. The Vedas are primarily for the purpose of establishing Absolute Truth about the relationship of the living entities to the Supreme Creator. Yes, they set down recommendations for social order, but the idea of "status quo" is incorrect. Just the opposite. The Vedas spell out how civilizations and societies devolve, cyclically, as "status quo" is relinquished according to the loss of understanding of Truth. The "saying" may be that all rivers run the same direction, but look around – they do not. Nor do people all go the same direction. Some are evolving upwards, some downwards. But yes, there is an inherent desire to return to 'wholeness', relationship with the Creator. But that doesn't counter any of my comments re: the idea that 'mass ascension' obviates free will. "Hinduism" is a false construct. It actually refers to a cultural milieu, not a religion. The religion you mistakenly call "Hinduism" is actually Sanatana-dharma. It does not have an equivalent to Buddhism. Buddhism and Zen are voidist – atheistic. They believe there is no Creator, and we all emerged from nothingness. Sanatana-dharma believes in a single Supreme Creator. There is no comparison. Thanks for the lesson on "sprinting blindfolded", but I don't believe it applies to me – at least not relatively, compared to the other conditioned humans among us. Compared to the pure devotees, however, we're all of us blindfolded. The vedas are for social control and maintaining a status quo, just like every other religious text. They are certainly an interesting philosophical trip, but nothing more. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 957461Beings DO actually all want to ascend, whether they are conscious of it or not. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 996845anyway, no matter what the bible is or isn't ..it doesn't matter... the parable of the wheat and tares IS HAPPENING. if you are a 'tare' you are angry, intolerant, blaming, self-indulgent, attacking, etc. if you are 'wheat' you are observant, tolerant, less reactive, self-disciplined, responsible for your own emotions, and relatively peaceful. the two have been permitted to 'grow together' in this field we call 'earth'. In this time, right now, people are taking one side or the other. ..becoming more POLARIZED TO ONE SIDE OR THE OTHER with each day that passes., very soon, the separation will occur. At that time, everyone goes where they are most suited. I have been noticing that the question of Israel, which has been intensifying from day to day, is a factor on that separation and that choice. |
