What I meant is that the streaks where to huge compare to the target to be smaller blobs trying to integrate into the big blob. So I gathered that the streaks where some sort of attack on the blob.

By "organism" I still believe its a bacteria, but whatever comes out of the GOM should have come out from other hydrothermal vents around the globe and close to tectonic plate movements.

If the Russians know, my guess goes deep into Lake Baikal. Perhaps they have discovered something down there, under high pressure. Did you see the news that Hollywood Director Cameron is diving with a sub in Lake Baikal ??

I always like your posts White Widow. I had suspected Lake Baikal also as a spot where the Russians might have first encountered this organism, even though it is fresh water.

Whatever the organism is, if it can survive at such extreme temperature and pressures it has to make you wonder if it is even natural to Earth.

I mean, what if the organism is 'alien' to this planet?
