Music Box Dancers , is this child abuse

Music Box Dancers

OMG, my heart breaks for these poor children, how many long grueling hours must these poor little ones practice to perfect such a display. Isn’t this child abuse ?

The parents should be horse whipped, they are putting these poor little children thru a living hell for a profit I am sure. Bastards are so greedy these days..

Or am I wrong ?

really, I am wrong ? Perhaps I am over reacting, but I really don't think so.

I watched the Opra interview she had with Michael Jackson way back in the late 80's or early 90's ( can't recall the date) where he said that his schedule from his father was so grueling, that he was NEVER allowed to be a child..

I danced for years, OP, starting as a toddler, all the way through my teens.

I also did gymnastics at the same time.

These children are not abused unless they have a cruel instructor. I spent a few years with a real witch when I got a little older but got out of dancing quickly after.

Dancing is fun :)

There is another theory mentioned, which states that this has already happened.

And really, while they did some difficult gymnastics for their age, for the most part it was variations of the same thing over and over. Children are very strong, too. They're fine.

Micheal Jackson was a child.

He just didn't get to do some of the things he wanted to do like most children.

When he became ridiculously rich he could afford to be a child again.

I see that we differ on this issue, which is good. We do need a balanced conversation with both sides represented.

To answer someone's question, yes I have grown children and grandchildren , I also have aweful memories of Mothers and Fathers attempting to relive their lives through their children in Football,, cheerleading, baseball . etc.

Those poor kids didn't really want to be there but to keep peace they did exactly what their parents ordered them to do.

I suppose I am jaded , if so .. so be it. I still think too many hours are spent to perfect these performances , that should otherwise be spent in just being a child..

I'll tell you this. I felt abused the one season my dad made me play softball because that's what HE wanted me to do, just like my sister who's winning team he coached.

Dancing was fun to me. I looked forward to every class, rehearsals, and recitals. Gymnastics was awesome!

Softball, ugh.

You see? It's not always abuse.
