4.0 (non-shaking) EQ near Palm Springs
I'm in Palm Springs. Just heard a huge, long boom and thought a big EQ would be coming but there was no shaking that I felt at all. USGS says it was only 12 miles away.

I now see there was a 4.0 off the coast of Western Mexico, a 4.6 off the coast of Costa Rica and this 4.0 Palm Springs EQ all about the same time (within a half minute from each other.)

Any others hear or feel the PS EQ?

Why do you say that? It was the first time I ever actually reacted to an EQ S-wave when I heard the boom thinking this was going to be a big EQ but then nothing happened, there was no shaking at all. It's just very weird that such a big EQ so near and I don't feel anything. I then see there were others near the same time (my mistake: not a half-a-minute from each other.) Are they related? They might be, they might not be but I can surely make a comment about it so STFU.

That's kind of odd, it was pretty shallow. Weird. Must have something to do with intervening faults or the composition of the rocks there?

Thanks for the info, OP.

More info the better. Very likely GOM-oil dome/volcano related.

However, at the same time something went nuts down in the gulf while I was watching the cams.

I am positive what is on the cams right now is a loop. Everything was going crazy and then all of the sudden everything was calm and crystal clear. I saw an explosion but to keep from getting screamed at for saying so, it could have been one of the rovs.
