Swallow your spit after doing the above. There's no other way around it. Once you realize you're not going to die from licking your foot, you can go on to licking doorknobs, the bottom of shoes, your dog's feet. The list is endless. |

Tryptophan pills, melatonin pills, SAMe, whey, and B vitamins. B12 under the tongue. Tryptophan can go low for lots of reasons from stress, junk food to bacterial and viral infections. So you may want to look for the underlying cause. |

That has to do with OCD, not OCPD. OCPD has to do with being a perfectionist & getting irritated easily because you don't think other people are doing things correctly. OCD has to do with fears of things. |

Bowyn Aerrow User ID: 12560157 United States 04/16/2012 01:41 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | OCPD and OCD are both mental/emotional issues caused predominately from environmental and situational factors. There is no drug (herbal or otherwise) treatment that treats the underlying cause of either. While there are many options to treat symptoms, the underlying cause needs to be ferreted out and 'worked on'. There may be some relationship to nutrition - some. A healthy diet is not only good for the body, but also for the mind, heart and soul. Don't expect a cure. Treatment, yes, cure - nope. Get a therapist and start working on your issues. Half of the treatment is to understand the difference between your Obsessive nature and what is really the flaws of others. Too often folk with OCPD fail miserably in telling the difference and often shift blame easily on the other person. There are tools that your therapist will give you to help you deal with and identify situations where you are being OCPD. And there are tools that s/he will hand you to better deal with the situation, depending on your nature, your 'causes' and how you behave/react to a given situation. Talk in the language people can understand, or they will keep telling you how to get over a fear of germs ;) |

Mycelium User ID: 13968849 United States 04/16/2012 02:46 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Friends, neighbors and worthy opponents, hello again! Quoting: King Of All Ducks 712852 Obsessive–compulsive personality disorder (OCPD) affects around 7.9% of the American population. That would be between 11 million and 13 million of us all. Like many other psychological disorders, it can ruin a person's mind, life and relationships over time. For more background on this, here is the Wikipedia article: [link to en.wikipedia.org] For those more adept in naturopathic medicine, or for those who know someone with this disorder, is there any set of tasks or protocols you'd recommend to ease or eliminate this disorder? Or at least ease or minimize it's symptoms? Many thanks in advance to all who respond. You may want to speak with a flower essence practitioner. I use them in my herbal practice, but this is a little beyond my experience. For many years, I thought flower essences were BS, but after a couple years of really giving them a chance, I have seen very amazing cures and responses. If you google the Flower Essence Society, I think they have a list of practitioners in the US and maube abroad. Due to the psych coomponent, many practitioners can do sessions and make recommendations over the phone. As mentioned by otthers, meditation is effective for many mental health issues. I worked in a psychology clinic for years as a psych tech anf this was one of the favored treatments in the clinic. Good luck. I have so much respect for those trying to deal with psych issues and mental health in a natural way. |
