Go back farther, you'd be surprised... back to 1600 and beyond, it's always interesting!

My hubby's a direct descendant of William Brewster of Mayflower fame. I tease him about being related to Sarah Palin.

We've got some great oral history on my side (written down, finally, years ago). But nothing of much historical significance.

Yep. All the way back to the Crusades. Ancestor fought under the Duke of Lorraine. Related to the British royal family and three presidents. Jackie Kennedy was a third cousin. Father's side of family came from Southern France and came to this country on the Mayflower. Three signers of the Declaration of Independence.Mother's side came from Wales and Ireland and related to royal family. hf hf

My husband's side. Scotland, highlands - the salt of the Earth and pig iron workers.

I haven't done mine yet but up to grandparents, it's farmers and military. I would expect more of the same going further back.

Yep can trace my family tree back to the beginning, when in the 1290's they had to record a sir name for tax reasons.

Direct descendant of John Howland and also John Alden. Mayflower passenger and ship's carpenter.

My aunt is making the search results into a book for the family. I have 53 cousins. My mother was the eldest of 10 girls and I am the eldest grand-child.

I used to love Sunday dinners at Grand-mother's. Wild and noisy but heaps of food...

Re: Has anybody ever had family tree traced
It's kind of funny to think about, but researching our genealogies is laborious and sometimes just not possible. Future generations will only have to plug our names into Google and our Issue will be able to see not only our names and family members, but our credit score, addresses, criminal history, and more. All with the push of a button...our lives will come alive on their computers. That really does kind of suck!

No, my father was orphaned because of WWII, but became a self made man.

Family has a crater named on the moon after a great, great, great, great, great grandfather.

First ancestors that came to the U.S. fought in the civil war for Sherman.

Before coming to the U.S. they were all college professors, chemists or owned textile factories.

I am the last one, I had no sons nor did my brothers...kind of sad acutely.

Trace back to Francis Scott Key and through him, back through various Kings and Queens of Europe, including Lady Godiva, who trace directly back to Charlemagne. haven't gone back further but I understand that Charlemagne traces back to the Roman Emperors.

Love genealogy. Hit a huge brick wall on my dads side. Got pretty far back on some other family sides though. My dads is really what I want though. It's a lot of work and time consuming

Re: Has anybody ever had family tree traced
I come from the "Boyd clan" in Kilamarnok Scotland..

[link to en.wikipedia.org]

My great, great, great grandfather and all of his brothers fought for the Confederacy. None of them owned slaves. Also had three Revolutionary War vets.

My real father supposetly decends from one of the King Henrys.. and I have always believed it was the one who cast away several infant daughters in his search for a son, as my "real" father is the same way....

There are many online resources and if youre in the same state you're searching go to the deeds office and library and start digging!
