When did Westerns steal the concept of Karma?
When did Westerns steal the concept of Karma?

Karma isn't real. It isn't even a western concept. It is something that American's have hijacked in the last couple of decades because it sounded like a good idea. Karma is just a way to make us feel better about the things that suck about life so we can go on with our day. The Karma hippies might want to consider that Fidel Castro is 84, Nelson Mandela is 92 and Charles Manson is 75.. That right there is enough to base a counter-argument against Karma on IMO.

i don't believe it's possible to steal the concept of karma. I dont think it's possible to claim the idea of karma as one of your own, nor would you benefit from it.

Karma does exist in all things. Some call it dao, some call it balance, some call it equilibrium.

IMO as far as Westerners go, Karma is just the newest version of Santa Claus. Be a good little boy and you will get presents but be a bad little boy and you will get coal. Same scare tactics that don't apply to the real world.

You should also consider Karma more of a long term deal that spans many lifetimes and has many facets, instead of assuming it means all bad people should die when they are young.

I could accept that from a Buddhist but here in the states the majority of the population are Christian and as such do not believe in reincarnation. Sorry, I am just tired of white 20 somethings telling me about Karma.

Karma is simply cause and effect.

You do believe in that right?

It is not some reward / punishment system dispensed by the universe.

It's action and reaction.

Yes, I can agree with that definition. I just don't get the feeling that most people around here are using that definition when referring to Karma.

karmic law is the law of the creator. we are all bound to it. it determines the conditions of rebirth, has nothing to do with your current life. god doesn't judge you after death, your actions judge themselves. if you attain freedom of the senses you get to choose your next life. die attached to your ego and you get reborn in accordance with your sensual desires and material attachments. bad cases get reborn as animals. sex addicts end up as frog raping monkeys. die connected to your higher-self/spirit and you are free to come back to earth or move on to other worlds. depends how high you raise your frequency, the higher it is the more worlds/options available.

Because they don't even understand the real concepts of Karma, it is just a word that hippies throw around without even knowing its origins.

karma is misleading... there is no need for the prefix 're' for the word; incarnation... it is just an interpretation of a cycle from the three-dimensional timeline.. you have lives and counterparts scattered all over an infinite number of timelines that are connected by threads of activity and experience

doing one thing in a life will effect another but not in the way that karma dictates , it is very subtle

If you believe that Jesus wants to re-come some day, then it is "carma", too. Or am I false?
And when you was a good human, who believes, that it will happen, than you re-come, too, like Jesus will.
So be good, wait and see!

Which "Western" stole Karma? The Good, the Bad and the Ugly? True Grit? High Noon? How the West Was Won? Etc... Which one?

Then who do we blame for taking it?

John Wayne? Roy Rogers? Clint Eastwood? Henry Fonda?

We find reincarnation and Karma in western philosophy also. But it was never established as part of a specific religion. Or probably with the exeption of the Celts (the Druids) who had some related concepts.

LOL

I think in a way you have it right.. but it is somewhat distorted

I think there is something about when you pass from this (focus)life that it's your world view and your life's events that do effect what your next (focus) life will be experiencing..

As you progress your focus becomes less entwined with concepts like duality and time and you gradually come to know you are actually the dimension you are experiencing .. all the rest is just peripheral fluff
