My feelings regarding the dates stated by ST and how none of that came to pass in the time frame originally stated are that I suppose it's a matter of definition as to whether you want to say a "lie" was stated or not.

He did fairly often make such statements where we would no longer be around by "X" date. Chiefly Dec 21,2012, though I think there may have been others. Correct me if I'm mistaken of course.

There was often no other statement attached to this to indicate our demise could be avoided, even if temporarily.

Now I'm not sure any of that actually qualifies as a lie, moreso just information was left out. So essentially, lacking information to the contrary, newer posters might take those dates at face value if they are to believe they are being given by highly advanced ET's that have had a hand in our evolution since day 1.

Why such simple yet important information was often left out on the statements is not something I know.

I've considered it could have been to drive up thread views, afterall a thread gets far more action around these parts if it appears that someone with "inside knowledge" is predicting the certain demise of humanity. As compared to just adding in a bunch of ifs ands and buts.

Maybe the idea was to drive up traffic to the thread, that way more people are exposed to some of the mind expanding ideas here, or maybe it was motivated by money. This site has grown from a small scale site 8 years ago when this thread started to well... lets just say your jaw would drop if you saw how much money this site is worth now. I think this thread had an instrumental part in that success.

I realize I can't know the real reason so it's all just speculation of course and I admit that here.
