For the money you can not beat a remington 700. (BOLT ACTION) Calibre 308. If we are talking semi auto I would go with a POF 308 20" for the money. Should cost about 2300$ US. If you want to stay under $2,000 than look at the Rock River version with a $ around $1500. But take it to the bank do not be cheap or be frugal when buying a weapon for self defense or hunting. Buy it right the first time and buy quality!!!!!!!!!!! 308 calibre will give you the range the hit (KNOCK DOWN) and the price you will like. (SURPLUS NATO ROUNDS) Portuguese or British Radway all day baby!!!!!!!! $35cents- $50cents a round!!!!!!!

Yes it is for self defense when SHTF and 308 is what I was looking at...I was seeing freakin boxes of 20 going for like $30

SAMCO Located in Hialeah Florida. $35 cents a round and 40 cents a round for there linked in perfect shape. Both are excellent ammo and very accurate. This is battle field ammo (NATO STAMP). You will have to buy 1000 rounds at a time but at that price how can you go wrong. The only problem is shipping to you might knock this price way up. Check it out see if it works for you.
