We - meaning Jews and Christians who follow the Old Testament - are to sound the shofar on Yom Kippur and on Rosh Hashanah.

Or do you refer to the talmudic messiah Phineas as per the Encyclopedia Judaica? But even EJ says that Phineas in his disobedience of Moses, is not the messiah himself. But his actions, being anti-Moses in their nature, were found favorable by the rabbis who assembled the talmud after Jesus' time.
