Anonymous Coward User ID: 1181600 United States 12/02/2010 08:30 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Been watching this for over a year. Last week I pointed this out to a group that I was talking to in front of my home, on the ocean. No one had ever looked up and noticed this before, they were amazed and none were young. So life long experience pointed out that this was not normal. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1077460 United States 12/02/2010 09:01 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I too assumed they were stars for quite a while. Then on various occasions I've seen them move from one orbit to another. Yes, move! And they move quickly. No, it is not the earth movement creating an illusion. This is the actual objects (thought once to be flickering colored stars) moving from one position to another. As though they are looking for a more suitable orbit for one reason or another. Once they find it, they then "park" in the new orbit for weeks or even months. But watched long enough and eventually you will see them reposition themselves again. Sometimes at or just above the horizion and other times they will go beyond the horizon and won't be seen again for months. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 642285Offhand I'd guess these are bases for smaller ships of some sort. With all the billions and billions of dollars poured into black projects, reverse engineering of downed alien vessels, etc., it is quite possible these are advanced man-made ships from earth. Although in fairness, it's unlikely the largest ones could be fully assembled on earth. Probably easier to do sub-assemblies and then lift them into orbit for the final assembly processes. I've begun to assume that they are the "aircraft carriers" of space. When you turn an infrared binoculars on them, you can clearly see small ships darting into and out of them. This is a nightly occurrence and one that the Military is obviously well aware is going on above earth. Space wars? Aliens shooting it out over our heads? Or are we in conflict with some extra-terrestial race of beings and in a war with them in an effort to protect earth from a wholesale invasion? Who knows? Obviously the government knows but they're not talking to avoid wholesale panic, and to keep their ultra-classified ships and weapons system hidden from the public for some indeterminate period into the future. I've read other posts about a whole new perspective is seen with night vision binoculars. What brand, specs are you using? I would like to buy some to check out all the activity. I've noticed all the colors in stars and extra twinkling also. Thanks. |

The stars I stare at every night seem to be changing. Their colors are coming through randomly and they sparkle with green, blue, red even orangish hues. I do not do drugs. I have never seen this before, despite having observed them from even higher elevations. I had originally considered temperature variables due to the altitude, but others in lower places are commenting on the same thing. Quoting: PsemeniHave you seen this? Please share and thank you. I always look up to the night sky, but for the past year, the stars seem strange - crystal like, shinier and def. change colors. There are normally two large stars that catch my attention that are doing this, which I've never seen before. It's almost like they are getting closer to earth, or we are to them. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1181450That's the point - it's not something observed during previous winters. Where was the "ice" last November-December? It was not creating this flickering of stars as such. You're joking right? No, I am not joking. It seems to reason that if ice in the atmosphere were causing stars to flash in multi-colors, sometimes appearing to twinkle out even, then would not this phenomenon be observable on a systematic and/or cyclical basis, ie., every winter, every day, every cold season, repeatedly? What makes it uncommon is that I have never seen this before, surely ice in the atmosphere will have been observable at other times as well as these? Sure, great, you haven't seen it before. One observers eyes does not equal this hasn't happened before. It's winter-ish. It happens every year spanning probably since humans have been capable of noticing it. So you're saying that I failed to observe it during previous winters. I have to laugh. Thanks. lol, guess i failed to observe all these decades too, cause some of those stars sure don't look like stars. and i have seen them change position overnight. i have seen a few of them actually glide across the sky, not meteorites, not jets. |

I am in the western CAribbean and always see them between north east and south east (direcitonof my balcony) I usually see two mainly nothr and south of Orion's belt, very bright andmainly flashing red/blue with a little yellow sometimes. When I asked on here I was told Venus and Mars lol yeah right in the same place for the last year lol there are even more now and two months ago about 3 weeks after columbian fireball I also saw one heading west about 30 miles north of Roatan. Lasted about 8 seconds and it was HUGE - NOT a shooting star, this was a fireball!!! first one I have ever seen. I would not be suprised if the announcement about planet sized objects on www.space.com all the fireballs, earthquakes and volcanoes and these twinklers are all related somehow. |

They are used for both communications and surveillance. They do have propulsion systems to maintain orbital position. The color shift is due to reflecting light off of the photovoltaic panels. |

And with all the satellites that have been put into orbit, it's fairly reasonable to guess that these are satellites. He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. Year ago husband and I tried to find it in star charts to no avail. Atmospheric ice would cause a twinkle as in varying intensities of one color of light but not the varying colors... have no idea what these are but have a feeling we will be finding out soon. I don't buy the new age explanations of alien races coming to save the planet... maybe stars about to die or secret satelites but IDK |

And as I watched, it seemed to morph into various geometric shapes - sometimes going quite large. All the shapes were polyhedrons. It was an awesome light show, and I doubt that stars do this. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1160280Yes. The multi-colored flickering over the course of the last year or less is why I got the telescope. Then I asked for Celestron astronomy binoculars for my birthday recently, which are even better. Zoomed in all the way tonight to a multi-colored star and it was even more pronounced and bright. It almost looked as though it was rotating. I guess I'm one of the crazies now... (Ha) |

The ONE poster who correctly pointed out that the flickering you are seeing is from the photovoltaic cells of satellite solar panels deserves a sodding prize! Duh folks! How can you be so ignorant and so falsely "open minded" to the unknown that you may miss the glaringly obvious? Are there motherships? Sure. Why not. Are they what people are seeing more and more of? No? Are they only visible in the winter, due to ice crystals? No. I fist noticed them myself three years ago in the New Mexico desert. I notice them most during the summer months because that is when I am outside during the dark periods. This is the 21st century folks. About 30 new satellites are put into orbit each month across the planet by different nations. Many of the so-called developing nations have developed their own surveillance satellite network and of course there are many many comms birds floating around up there. The ones that seem stationary, but can move around in the sky? Yup...geo-synchronous surveillance birds...they fly around at the same speed as the planet and can be repositioned in their orbital trajectory on the fly. They have great whapping huge solar panels on them that keep them going for years. That's what you're seeing folks. If you want to keep fantasizing about satellites being motherships, you're gonna miss the real thing because you'll be too busy hunting and pecking your response to this thread from Mom's basement. |
