Well, my watching it today really synced up with my messiah complex, as did the songs on the radio. I think loneliness breeds the desire to be "The Chosen One". A chosen one is a man that can feel good about his life, no matter what. He can stay strong, and live for the greater good, with or without a woman. And, naturally, his being so good makes all the women love him. Yes, sir, it is a "mental illness" all it's own.

It is a great film. Really all about human misunderstanding and the manipulation of an innocent person by more sophisticated people for their own purposes. Everyone is deluded in the story. Even Chance. A very interesting and original movie. Also with many funny parts of course.

The symbolism is off the charts, especially the ending. It gives me the willies.

One of my favorites. A cynical view of the ending is that Chauncey was literally too stupid or naive to know that he shouldn’t be able to walk on water.

Love that movie. Check him out in the movie Murder by death. Great film and very funny but couldn't be made today without being labeled racist.

It was supposedly directed by Kubrick on the sly, Hal Ashby was a genius and they collaborated, film needs correlation with the rest of Kubrick's oeuvre hidden symbolism etc, excellent stuff!
