Big Pharma/Big Insurance scam?

Has anyone else had this experience that goes a little something like this:
You go to the Dr. , get meds prescribed for your ailment. You specifically ask that the scrip is written for generic because your co-pay is cheaper vs name brand. You take the scrip to the pharmacy and lo and behold they do not have the generic ($10 copay) due to it being on backorder and basically unavailable. However, they do have the namebrand meds but since the scrip was written for a generic, insurance will not cover any of the cost ($160.00 Oop). This has happened twice in two weeks. I think this is a blatant rip. Anyone else?
