I Have been hearing a steady rumbling or cycling hum for the last 12 hours (Washington State)
It sounds like a combination of road noise, a plane going over and a clothes dryer all combined. Very subtle, I hear it best laying in bed with my ear on the pillow, but it is very new. Either the makeup of the ground underneath my house has changed or this is a new sound.

It has a whirring cycling sound, like something turning or churning. It's very disconcerting.

Can you record it and post it, OP, like the people in Florida did? I wonder if it is the same sound.

It's not loud at all, very subtle, but in a quiet room it seems loud. I tried to record it with a voice recorder and my computer mic, it doesn't come through, even with audio enhancement software.

West coast, according to many, is expecting an eq any minute now. Any animals acting strange in your area? Are the magnets still on the fridge?

It doesn't have that jet engine quality to it. If I had to come up with something outlandish, I might say something like a convoy of tanks about 200 feet below my house, going through an underground tunnel that has a foot of water running through it.

My dog is lackluster, but that's about it. In the thread below, I predicted the Chile earthquake a day before by watching the birds.

Sounds surreal. I had a strange sound effect in my kitchen on a new years eve a few years back. something was making a bouncing ball sound in the corner of my kitchen. I made account of all the habitats in my house and they were all accounted for. I made a joke to my husband that if it was a ghost, I don't mind if it stays, as long as it can help make house payments! The noise lasted 5 minutes and then abruptly left. It wasn't til years later that it occurred to me that I could of communicated with it- one bounce for no, two for yes- dang! I missed a good opportunity!

I have been hearing this daily in Oregon for over a month now mainly at night and definitely lower than a plane would go. It's been so overcast and cloudy here that I can never see what it is but I've been hearing it like crazy I just heard it an hour ago..

Where in washington...I have had similar, but for longer. Keep thinking it was minor quakes. I'm also rural around canyons and sound travels really, really well. Can hear people noises over half mile away. Radios, shovel clunking, talking loud, etc.

Ever put your head under water when a large ocean going ship is passing by? The noise is practically deafening. You can also feel the ground shake from big ships.
I'm not from Canada, not that there's anything wrong with that.....

After some research, this is from JBLM website:

March 11-22, 2013

Day and night training. Firing is scheduled from early morning to midnight. This firing is
conducted to maintain proficiency with this type of weapon system.

Late Night Firing At Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington State - March 15 to 22 2013

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 14266257

Joint Base Lewis-McChord is conducting late-night firing until Friday. The firing, which takes place midnight to midnight, started last Monday.

The loud booms heard are due to M777 howitzer, demolitions and C4. The firing is for soldiers to maintain their proficiency with this type of weapon system.

Increased levels of activity are during the evening hours, and firing will be conducted from more than one range on base.

This is normally scheduled and required training, which allows military members to practice and improve skills required during combat. As often as possible, JBLM conducts larger-scale demolition training and artillery firing at JBLM Yakima Training Center in an effort to minimize inconvenience for the surrounding communities. However, some training must take place on base.

This is one of the more intense series of training events I’ve felt from JBLM, it feels like front line howitzer action here near Nisqually, this is window rattling shit. Every time I hear that canon report I think ‘bye-bye money, there goes another $10 grand, thanks Uncle-fucking-Sam’…good times

HOWEVER my phones camera was making a lot of static during the recpording, more than ive noted previously by far. im sure my hand wasnt on the mic also. any ideas on ehat is going to happen? whats the deal with this noise?
