So, Jesus told his Apostles that all things that he foretold would come within their lifetime (he was asked, and responded). Um, how many generations are we past their lifetime? So... I guess he meant an "extended" lifetime maybe for them? As, what he foretold has not come to pass. In fact, EVERY generation (of Christian faith) claims THIS IS THE TIME... yet... we are still here in non-harmony. This generation is still waiting for the 1000 year peace...but again, it wasn't to happen in our lifetime - it was to happen in the lifetime of the Apostles.
