rfid chips are real, are being used today in all sorts of things. they began conditioning you to the idea by chipping your dogs and cats (which is now becoming mandatory).

And, now they've moved to your ailing grandma with dementia, or your little ones who might get kidnapped by a pedo. They'll tout how convenient it is to have all medical records 'on you/in you' to lessen medical mistakes. They'll put feel good stories on the news about someone being safely found because they were chipped, etc.
