Dogs can be very dirty animals. You need to keep an eye on your dog and give a good scolding when you catch him doing it. Eating feces is not good for them, that's how they contract parasites.

My dog eats cat poop right out of the cat box. Just beyond gross. Hey, at least you don't have to clean up after your horses

I dunno. Mine only eat fresh horse poop. It seems universal.

This allows them to break down and digest non-meat foods. Dogs in the wild tend to rip apart and share (evenly) the stomach of their kill first. The enzymes allow them a brief period of time where they can actually digest plant matter.

Dogs are full carnivores except for brief bursts after a kill.
You can mimic this in dog food with the addition of raw/unbleached tripe. If you add tripe (plus liver and kidney of you really like your dog) to a dish with half cooked rice, your dog will be able to benefit from the rice.
Other wise it just gets shat out.

Dogs love horseshit. Just roll with it or put lime on the HS to break it down quicker.

Carnivores actually need vegetables. Normally, they eat the digested grass in the intestines first.

So give them more veges in their diet.

And less of that processed stuff.

We had a german shepard that ate our horses mess...

Can't remember how Mom corrected him but it worked. I do remember there had to be a correction in his diet as well as behavior training. Maybe google the term and see if you can get advice.

The dog is missing somthing from it's diet that it wants from the poop...feed it potassium? Or search "why do dogs eat poop potassium" you'll find a lot of info.

One time my Golden Retriever eat a bunch of horse shit and I didn't know it until he threw it all up on my living room floor. I was very confused for a few minutes and thought he was dieing and crapping from his mouth. I was dry heaving and laughing when I realized it was horse shit. Lucky it was Mexican tile.
