The thing about pedophilia is that I believe it to be a sexual orientation. A twisted one, but a sexual orientation nonetheless. You can't "cure" a pedophile just like you can't "cure" a straight or gay person.

While I think homosexuality may be a fate you are born with - it seems you find it with a certain percent of animals too (who are basically immune to any symbolic or language programming), pedophilia is simply a perversion, just like sadism or necrophilia. It comes from twisted individuals.

The noun phrase "sexual orientation" would all too easily make it acceptable.

I have gone through many psychological systems and perform some therapy myself.

Now what you do with the "twisted individuals" is of course up to the political and psychological beliefs you profess. I think they should be isolated from children. You can try various sort of therapies to help them.

I think homosexuality, heterosexuality etc. cannot be "therapised" out. But the mere fact tha certain pedophiles will remain incorrigible is no logical proof that it is a "sexual orientation."

This would be like classifying murderers along with classes like the British, the Irish, the Indians, Muslims or Sikhs.

I think each religion has its place, its just a matter of learning religious tolerance so a one world religion may not be the best way to go because people have different heritages, different backrounds, so what is best for you in terms of religion is not necessarily best for everyone else.

How many would justify it being an orientation? Whether it's a perversion or not, it needs to be addressed. I read Kathy O'Brien's story and I think there is a whole underground network of these people.
