.????? Barack Obama to release up to 2,000 photographs of prisoner abuse

Momentum for a major public inquiry was dramatically increased when Mr Obama released four memos last week written by three officials from Mr Bush's Justice Department.

Running to 126 pages, they contained the legal rationale for the CIA's methods of extracting information from al-Qaeda suspects used between 2002 and 2005.

The methods, eventually prohibited by the Bush administration, included sleep deprivation for up to 11 days, forced nudity and stress positions as well as "waterboarding", a form of simulated drowning in which "water is continuously applied from a height of 12 to 24 inches" for "20 to 40 seconds".



Wasn't it waterboarding to have been the method in receiving the information in finding bin laden?

Why does he think the American people are that stupid?

I don't recall that Bush prohibited waterboarding - in fact I recall that his administration initiated and defended the practice. Didn't they claim that it wasn't torture?? C'mon, don't you recall that they defended the practice. The fact that Obama released info that may lead to an inquiry might just result in a truth disclosure, and a possible end to some of the attrocities perpetrated by the U.S. powers that be. Really, think about what Obama is doing for a second. Might he not be trying to put an end to such abusive practices? Why now after the whole Osama incident? Could it be to counter the disinfo that such inhumane attrocities led to a "successful kill"? I think there is a message in the message that we should all be getting.

He didn't even wait to release this information a week after the bin laden ordeal.

He has photos of prisoner abuse he doesn't have photos of Osama dead that's the difference.

I love our president. He's doing exactly what we knew he would do: Do everything in his power to completely destroy this once decent country.

I mean seriously, he refuses to release proof of OBL's death, and claims that it's to protect us. While in the same week, plans to release 2k pictures detailing the abuse of prisoners under our stewardship.

Geez, that's kinda blatant you know.

Obama hasn't visited ground zero once during his presidency but in an effort to grab all the publicity he can he will visit it on 5/5.

no problem. Goes a long way to showing the white house's hypocrisy and lack of worry about inciting anti-American feeling in the Middle East in the past.

It's okay, no biggie. Sometimes your complete dislike for a politician can cause you to jump to conclusions that are false; I've committed similar mistakes when Bush was President.

He asked Bush if he wanted to join him at ground zero - Bush told him "no thanks, you're doing a fine job of making yourself look like an idiot, you don't need my help".
