We barely make it. He got offered a job this morning as the head of a department of 30 employees. He told the employer that he would think about it and call him back. My husband is not going to take it. Right now, despite dollars being really tight, he is FREE!!!! and that means more than money. |

I just hate the whole process: drug tests, background checks, rules, regulations. I haven't even started my first day and I am already being ordered around. On Friday i take the 'physical' where they tell me i can't eat or drink anything the night before or that morning. Why is it their business what i put in MY body as long as i can still do a good job? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1370340I know i should be grateful to get a job, but I just feel like someone else owns me now. Why does it have to be like this? Who set up this crazy system where corporations rule everything and the only way to survive is to trade almost every waking moment of your life to serve the corporate overlords? Why does everything in the world have to be based on fear? Why can't we do work that fulfills our own lives and brings happiness to others instead of being treated like you are just a cog in a machine? Even during the interview, I felt like I wasn't treated as an equal, but as some subservient little minion that has to grovel for a handout. I guess I should just abandon my childish notions of the way the world works and just put my nose to the grindstone like everyone else. We all keep running around at breakneck pace, ripping minerals from the earth, driving gas guzzling machines, competing for material goods, and perpetuating a grotesque system that is hostile to all life on the planet. Prove yourself a valuable worker and person and things should turn around. Writer's Block |

Or get a simple, undemanding job where they let you be what you are because nobody cares about the slaves at the bottom of the paycheck scala. Because of that, they usually have more personal freedom than the slaves that get paid more. The more payment, the more loyalty and submission to the system is expected. You do not need 99% of the things that ads tell you are "must haves" for your happiness. If you think you need all that uneccessary stuff, you only reinforce the slavery system. |

This interviwing, testing, certificate crap is exhausting indeed, congrats on hanging in! Hope you schedule time for things you really love to do. I can relate, just got my new schedule for my new job! I was in bad shape, too. A real blessing. But hell, 74 hours a week is gonna thrash me and there goes my camping and fishing trips I have waited for 10 years! Still, the fam has a home, pets too. I am just happy with hot shower and roof. And GLP. |
