If you're a chronic cougher- could be the cause. Smoker? Go to the doctor- blood coming from any cavity isn't good at all.

Just go to the doctor, coughing up blood isn't normal.

i'm not a smoker, but i smoke weed. so i guess i'm just a weed smoker....maybe thats the cause? maybe i could arrange a visit with a dr. ......i hate getting older, wish i could stay young and fresh forever!

This is how it started for someone very dear to me.

Hemoptysis is not a good thing, but it could be a simple case of pneumonia or sinusitis with drainage being coughed up.

I too cough up spots of blood but I have my wisdom teeth to blame for that.

I'm no doctor..but

is the blood more on the pinkish side of red? because sometimes when you cough hard/chronically you'll break little capillary's in your lungs,not really a big deal...

Don't you worry about a thing. I read your previous post that you only smoke cannabis, if this is correct, then please read the article below. I think you are mistakening the "blood" for black phlegm spots.

The main thing going on here is the difference between bronchial dilators and constrictors. Tobacco is a bronchial constrictor whereas Cannabis is a bronchial dilator; this means smoking tobacco will tighten and close the pathways in your lungs where Cannabis will open them up. Nicotine constricts terminal bronchioles in lungs, which keeps tars trapped in the tissue. Its there these chemicals do their worst. THC and the chemicals associated with MJ are dilators. This allows the particulate matter (black mucus) etc., to be expelled, thereby eliminating their effects "on contact" with lung tissue. Anytime you smoke you’re going to have a presence of mucus.

For me MJ has a slight allergic reaction just like my everyday allergies. However it is this very bodily reaction that protects us from long term contacts with allergens, by allowing "matter" to be trapped and expelled. So, the "Black Phlegm" is a good thing.

Yes.

Was initially diagnosed as pneumonia.... that wasn't the case. A year or so later it was too late.

This individual was a smoker but also worked alongside various chemicals (industrial bleaching agents) for many years.

Please have yourself checked NOW!

do you smoke crack..this will cause you to spit up blood..Im not being funny either..Its true..Smoking crack or inhailing certain drugs or chemicals can cause this..If thats not the problem it could be that you are coughing so much that it is causing the vesels in your throat to be erritated which can also cause a little blood..Does not mean its anything serrious..With that said if its alot of blood it could be something serrious.Have you been sick with a cold..If so this could be phnemonia or bronchitis.. If its none of the above you should really see a doctor..

i think helium can do it too...if you've been around balloons compelled to make a high pitched voice. it can cause bleeding in the lungs (i think?)...

thought they were harmless til blood started making an appearance, and even then shrugged it off until it started happening more frequently.......i found my medical card though so i guess its to the doctors i go....

I remember this actually happened to one of the contestants in one of the final episodes of The Aprentice and they had to wait for her diagnosis and she turned out to be OK - was some tear in the upper resp track or something. But you may not be as lucky - maybe you can request to be a volunteer patient at a med school?

i know a lot about medical stuff so i don't imagine this is a HUGE issue at this point (hence my hesitance to go to the dr.) but i don't know much more than that about it so i thought maybe others would have experiences here on GLP and i have to say i'm glad to get honest opinions and am moved to go to the doctor now. :)

DF: honest opinion, save your buckeroos and see a doc. There are normally urgent care clinics that are a bit cheaper than full-fledged docs, and do see patients on a walk-in basis.

Why? It's a community health risk, if you do have it. if you don't, it's less worrisome. If you have it, you could spread it to others, so even if you're dead broke, your county (whichever county you live in, in Cali), _will_ want you treated if you have it. Don't worry about the costs, because the County Health Dept probably won't charge you to clear you of it (especially if you're in a lower income bracket, though I could be wrong).

You may need to see a doc...Swine flu became serious in Mexico, and they bring in all kinds of nasty stuff including drug resistant TB...go to a doc.

thanks everyone, i am totally calling the doctor today and going as soon as they have an appointment. hopefully will be more pleasant than a county clinic or the ER, lucky for medi-cal even if the doctors are kinda....iffy. hah (i mean, i bet these doctors offices are a lot of where this shit gets spread around....)
