I mean by boycott: spread far and wide to everyone (esp teenagers pointing out that this could be their best friend) and to stop going there. Make it a rebellious thing...

I will never shop urban outfitters. This is terrible business practice.

Thieves are thieves.

Stealing the ideas of others is very common in the retail/merchandise industry. Even if you have trademark/copyright on the idea they still steal it, because they know your only option is to sue them for damages and most people don't have the time, will or financial means to get embroiled in a lawsuit.

This sucks!

I found plenty of links for Urban Outfitters Necklaces but none of them are working..maybe they decided they really got caught this time! I have found many related articles about this blatant thievery. It is very disgusting how people steal other peoples ideas ..I know I have had my designs ripped off too. I am on Etsy as well as run my own website selling my custom made and designed wedding items. Working hard to create something unique and seeing someone just pluck it up and call it their own makes me sick. I hope that if anything this brings more business to the artist.

Anthropologie is also notorious for stealing designs from etsy sellers.

Not yet, but someday I plan to. I love painting and making things. It's so frustrating because I had art for years and knew many artists who are phenomenal and they get next to nothing for their hard work (and the cost is high, and primarily for the love of it) and to have even their very creativity stolen is unbearable to me. God gave them these talents, not so corporate weasel can just snatch them out of thin air.

I wish Etsy has like a 10 dollar copyright process. Some places do.

At any rate, i am an avid customer and admirer and I would rather have a unique creation from the heart than commercial shit anyway, for this very reason. I often wonder how many poor people in third world countries get a crumb and then the "designer" gets millions for buying it off the poor. It's frosts my ass.

BTW, Giada De Laurentis from the Food TV, is the owner of Anthropologie, her husband owns it, and by virtue of marriage so does she. And she's a nasty bitch. My friend is a bartender and she was talking to Giada's husband (HE was flirting with HER) and he left her a five dollar tip and Giada came up and gave her nasty look and snatched the five. And a five is not generous int he first place for 150 dollar a bottle whiskey.

I don't know if you ever read the forums over there, but there have been a *lot* of examples of seller's pictures and designs being stolen by users on alibaba (a site for wholesale manufacturers overseas). The take their pictures and use them without changing a thing. Sometimes they will even buy one of the seller's items to use as a prototype and manufacture the item en masse, selling it at wholesale prices. And, what is the seller, the little guy, supposed to do about it? It's frustrating how little recourse many sellers have in these situations,.

As an artist, I hate this shit.

Most people can't make a living at what they love to do. Then you have multi-million dollar corporations stealing bread from the working class.

Yes I know all about them. I had one of them ask me to send a pattern to one of my design s..so that they could make a sample of their work. I told them no thank you..I am proud that all my items are hand made in the USA by me :)

I've always wondered exactly how many GLP'ers are also etsyians. :)
