Yes, but he was making himself large and loud when the Bear got closer. So, he did cause it to get closer possibly by backing although, it's hard to play armchair quarterback from the PC.

He did a great job, he was tapeing too. Could you have done that? One never knows till is happens.

I had to seperate myself from a mother Grizzly and her two cubs, thak God I did not get between them. The little ones were curious and wanted to play or eat me one or the other. Mama was not happy.

Not saying I would've done better...I'd prolly shit my pants and become bear lunch, but I heard backing off was bad. All I got to worry about out here are wild boars and only when they're with young...and even then they aren't all that dangerous.
