Quoting: Lib3r4torYoung man preserves video of police killing a driver after car chase, and the subsequent harrasment and raised guns at him and his girlfriend. When do you think people will get enough of the police state, and start taking action? Link to article with video: [link to technolog.msnbc.msn.com] First they shoot a man then The police put a gun to man who taped it's head and his girlfriend's head, threw them on the ground and smashed his phone. I hope to God they sue. This was unprofessional behavior by the cops all around. |

I hope to God they sue. This was unprofessional behavior by the cops all around. What those officers (and in this case...that term is used very loosely) did constitutes aggravated assault....or even assault with a deadly weapon. The couple that had guns pointed at their heads need to do something more than just suing.....they need have criminal charges pressed against any of the officers that placed people under false arrest, or aimed a weapon at people who committed no crime and posed no threat to officer safety. They want to play checkers? We need to show that we play chess. There are two types of civil servants. Those who take the oath and seek the position because they genuinely want to stand between people and harm/trouble, and those who seek the position to obtain "god" status. Clearly, these officers were of the latter. I'm just a figment of your imagination ;-) |

Quoting: BRIEFBRIEF, I respect your opinion, and have had a chance to read many of your posts (many of them pretty witty, even if in a cynical fashion). In this case, my opinion has nothing to do with the car. Although, it is my understanding that once the car is stopped, and if no further threat is made to an officer....they may approach with weapons drawn, but have no justification for shooting a person who was trying to evade the officers. If they were given an order to exit the vehicle and refused, it would be understandable if they tazed the subject. However, the real problem here lies within the fact that officers turned their weapons on people because they were caught on video doing something that may have gotten them in trouble, or placed them under scrutiny. They operated outside of the boundaries of the law, and abused the public trust. They went from being keepers of peace to aggressors. At no time should that be tolerated, nor excused. I'm just a figment of your imagination ;-) |
